The Fundraising overview is the first page you see when you open the Fundraising Console. It gives you a quick view of fundraising activity without making you build a report.
Prerequisites
- You need Fundraising Console access to see this page. You do not need any additional permission to view the figures.
Open the Overview
- Go to Fundraising & Gifts › Overview, or open the Fundraising Console. The overview is the console’s landing page.
Result
Four headline figures appear across the top: Donors, Gifts (last 12 months), Outstanding Pledges, and Active Recurring Gifts. The giving chart appears below them.
Tip
Outstanding Pledges adds up the full pledged amount for every open pledge, not the remaining balance after partial payments. Figures on this page can be up to a day old; select a figure’s refresh icon to recalculate it right away.
Warning
If your organization’s plan includes an embedded analytics dashboard, you’ll see that dashboard here instead of the four figures and chart described in this article. Fundraising does not control what that dashboard shows. If your overview looks different from this article, that is the most likely reason.
Except for that embedded-dashboard option, the headline figures and giving chart should populate normally. If the chart is empty or does not load, troubleshoot it or report it instead of treating it as a basic reporting limitation.
Read the Giving Chart
Below the headline figures, a column chart shows how much your organization raised in each of the last twelve months.
- To view one fund, choose it from the selector above the chart. Choose no fund to see giving across all funds.
Result
The columns update to show that fund’s monthly totals, and the chart title names the fund or reads “All Funds.” Your fund choice is remembered the next time you open the overview in this browser.
A sentence below the chart shows when the numbers were last calculated. Select Refresh this data now to recalculate them immediately.
Refresh a Headline Figure
Each headline figure has its own recalculation icon beside its label. Select it to recalculate that figure right away instead of waiting for the next scheduled update.
Tip
If you’ve turned on privacy mode from the user menu, every figure on this page is blurred. The figures still work as links to their records; they are just hidden on screen.
See the Records Behind a Figure or Chart Column
- Select a headline figure, or select a column in the giving chart.
Result
You’re taken to the Query Center with a ready-made query for the records behind what you selected.
Warning
Selecting a column always opens all twelve months of gifts for that column’s fund, not just the month you selected.
Warning
Opening the records behind a figure or chart column requires Query Center access. If you have Fundraising access but not Query Center access, you may see an access-denied message when you try this, even if you’re a Fundraising administrator. Ask whoever manages permissions at your organization to grant Query Center access if you need to drill into these figures regularly.
