Almost every Fundraising form that records money asks where the money goes, which campaign gets credit, and which appeal prompted it. You’ll see these choices on gifts, pledges, recurring gifts, giving processes, and some Fundraising settings. Rhythm uses the same Fund:, Campaign:, and Appeal: controls wherever they appear, so you can use them the same way on each form.
When to Use This
Use this when you enter or edit a gift, pledge, recurring gift, or giving process and need to choose where the money goes and how it should be credited.
- Open the Fund: dropdown. Rhythm lists your active funds by fund category. If you do not see the fund you expected, check whether it is inactive, because this control only shows active funds.
- Review the fund that is already selected before you save. Rhythm remembers the last fund chosen in this browser and fills it in on the next form you open, even if someone else starts that form on the same computer.
- Open the Campaign: dropdown, if the form has one. Rhythm offers every campaign in your Rhythm account, whether it is active or inactive, so you can credit a gift to a campaign that has already ended.
- Open the Appeal: dropdown, if the form has one. Rhythm offers only appeals that belong to the campaign you selected, so the list stays empty until you choose a campaign. If you change the campaign later, Rhythm clears the appeal you selected because it belonged to the previous campaign.
Result
When you save the form, Rhythm saves the fund, campaign, and appeal with the record. The next form with a Fund: picker starts with the fund you just chose, whether you or someone else uses this computer.
On a form where Campaign: and Appeal: are optional, such as your Rhythm account's Default Giving Process, you can clear a previously selected value back to blank and save successfully. Clearing the campaign also clears the appeal if it no longer matches.
Why an Appeal Might Not Be Offered
Rhythm filters appeals by the campaign selected on the same form. If you do not see the appeal you expected:
- Confirm that the correct Campaign: is selected first. The appeal list stays empty until you choose a campaign, and then it shows only appeals for that campaign.
- Appeals do not have their own active or inactive setting. Every appeal that belongs to the selected campaign is offered, even when the campaign has already ended.
A Note on Finding Campaigns Elsewhere
This picker loads every campaign in your Rhythm account up front, so it is a reliable place to find a campaign regardless of status. Some search screens work differently: their campaign filter checks only the first page of matching campaigns, so a campaign you can select here might not appear when you search for it there.
