Normally, each fund uses one default fundraising product. At checkout, that product is the item a donor “buys” when they give. Turn on Override Fundraising Products when one campaign, or one appeal within it, should use a different product for one or more funds.
When to Use This
Use this when a campaign or appeal, such as a gala or matching drive, needs a different checkout product than your everyday default for one or more of its funds.
Prerequisites
- At least one active fund must have at least one fundraising product set up. A fund with no products does not appear as a row you can choose.
- You need permission to edit the campaign or appeal.
- Open the campaign with Create Campaign, or select Edit from its record page. To work with an appeal, open Create an Appeal, or select the pencil beside an existing appeal.
- Turn on Override Fundraising Products.
- Rhythm shows each active fund that has at least one product in a Fund / Product table. For each fund you want to override, choose a Product. Leave a fund’s row blank when that fund should keep using its normal default product.
- Select Save Changes.
Result
Gifts and pledges made under this campaign use the product you chose for each overridden fund. When an appeal has its own override and it does not conflict with a campaign override for the same fund, gifts made specifically for that appeal use the appeal’s selected product instead. Funds you leave blank continue using their normal default product.
What Can Stop the Save
- The override is turned on with no fund-and-product pairs chosen at all. Rhythm refuses the save. Choose at least one fund-and-product pair, or turn the switch back off.
- Every row is left on its default product. Rhythm turns the switch off automatically before saving because there is nothing to override.
Things to Check Yourself
Warning
Rhythm does not check whether the product you choose in a fund’s row belongs to that fund, so double-check your choices before saving. If a campaign and one of its appeals both override the same fund with different products, Rhythm does not consistently resolve which one applies, so check your results if you use overrides at both levels for the same fund.
A saved override takes precedence over the fund's normal default product for any gift or pledge made under that campaign or appeal. Because Rhythm does not check that the overriding product belongs to the fund you chose, a stale or incorrect override can route donations to an unexpected fund. That can change downstream behavior, such as which receipt template applies, until you disable or correct the override.
