Rhythm shows a donor’s giving details on the contact or organization profile, below their usual information. Use this view when you already have the record open and need to answer, “What has this person given?”
Before You Begin
Prerequisites
- You need access to view contacts or organizations, and you also need access to Donors in the Fundraising Console.
- The contact or organization does not need a donor record for this panel to appear. If they have never given, Rhythm shows zero figures and empty tabs.
Open a Donor's Giving Summary
- Find the donor by searching Fundraising & Gifts › Donors, or open the contact or organization directly through the CRM.
- If you start from a donor search, select the donor’s Name in the results. Rhythm opens the giver’s contact or organization page.
Result
Below the usual contact or organization details, the donor panel shows:
- Two alerts, when they apply: one if the donor is flagged anonymous, and one with the donor’s current club.
- Four figures: Amount Given, # Gifts, Last Gift, and Largest Gift.
- Five tabs: Gifts, Pledges, Recurring Gifts, Donor Club History, and Custom Fields. A tab label shows a count in parentheses after that tab has rows.
Read Each Tab
- Gifts lists every gift the donor made, plus every gift where they received a soft credit, marked (soft credit). Soft credits count toward the tab count, but they do not count toward Amount Given or # Gifts.
- Pledges lists the donor’s pledges, including the amount, amount outstanding, fund, and status.
- Recurring Gifts lists recurring gifts, including the amount, next gift date, total given so far, and status.
- Donor Club History shows clubs the donor has left, with the start date and end date for each one. The current club appears in the alert near the top, so it does not appear as a row here.
- Custom Fields shows any donor-specific field values your organization has recorded.
The Gifts tab only shows transactions that create a Gift record: a hand-entered gift, a fulfilled order for a fundraising or mapped donation product, and each pledge payment collected. A donation entered another way, such as directly on an invoice, does not automatically create a Gift record, so it will not appear here. Rhythm does not have one combined screen for every donation-like record across Gifts, Pledges, and Recurring Gifts, so check each tab or use a query if you need to review them together.
Tip
On a contact page, the position indicator, such as “3 of 42,” includes up and down arrows. Use them to move to the next or previous donor from your last search without returning to the results. This is not available on organization pages.
Start a New Gift or Pledge from Here
- On the Gifts or Pledges tab, select Process Gift or Process Pledge.
Result
Rhythm opens gift or pledge processing with this donor already selected, so you can continue recording the payment. See Process a Gift or Pledge for a Donor for the rest of that flow.
Warning
Use Process Gift on the Gifts tab instead of the button on the Recurring Gifts tab. The Recurring Gifts tab’s button does not reliably start gift processing for this donor.
Edit the Donor from Here
Select Edit Donor Info near the top of the giver’s page to open the donor form. From there, you can change the club, anonymity flag, or custom fields. See Create or Edit a Donor for the rest of that form.
If It Fails
- The donor panel shows zeros and empty tabs for someone you know has given. If the totals and lists do not match what you expect right after you record a gift, they may still be updating. Recalculation runs in the background, not instantly, so wait a few minutes and refresh the page.
- Edit Donor Info doesn't open anything for a giver with no donor record yet. Go to Fundraising & Gifts › Donors › Create Donor and create the donor directly instead. See Create or Edit a Donor.
- Club History shows an unfamiliar code instead of a club name. This happens when Rhythm cannot match the club name to the identifier in the history entry. The identifier still tells you which club the donor was in.
