Once you register for an event, the Portal gives you one place to review your selections. You can also change a completed registration when your association still allows edits for that event.
Prerequisites
- You must be signed in to the Portal with an account linked to a contact.
- To modify a registration, the registration cannot be a draft or cancelled. The registration process must allow registrants to edit their own registrations, and today must be before the process's edit deadline. If any requirement is not met, Modify Registration is not offered. A group registration remains a draft until the whole group finishes checkout, so a group member cannot modify their registration in the Portal until the group's order is complete.
- If the process's edit deadline is blank, Rhythm uses the event's start date instead of leaving modifications open indefinitely. Because of that, Modify Registration can disappear sooner than expected when your association has not set that date explicitly.
A registration counts as started only after you complete the first page of the registration form and select Continue. Each page you complete after that saves your progress again. If you only open the registration form and do not get past the first page, there is no registration to return to later.
View Your Registration
- Open your registration. If the event's landing page shows a banner that says you're registered, select the link in that banner. You can also open your registration from a My Event Registrations page, if your association's Portal includes one. That page lists every event you're registered for; select the event name to open its registration.
- Review the details shown: Event:, Registrant:, Date:, then Type:, Package:, and Status:. The Package: value comes from the order line behind your registration, not from a separate package identifier. That is expected, even when the wording does not exactly match the package name you chose.
- If you brought guests, chose sessions, bought function tickets, registered for courses, or added extras, each item appears in its own list. These sections appear only when your registration includes something for them.
Result
You see the current details for your registration. If your association has enabled certificates and you have checked in to the event, Print Certificate of Attendance opens a certificate of attendance in a new browser tab.
Print Certificate of Attendance uses the layout and content your association designed in the event's certificate settings. If the certificate looks wrong, your association needs to update those settings.
If the event's Portal includes an attendee directory, select the Attendee Directory link from this page to open it. The link comes directly from the event's registrant directory setting. After your association turns that setting on and publishes the directory, the link appears here automatically. For more details, see Search the Attendee Directory in the Portal.
Tip
If you do not see the custom-field selections you made during registration, ask your association whether those selections were included in your registration confirmation email instead. Some custom-field answers appear there even when they do not appear on this page.
Some text on an event's landing page, including wording around your registration link, belongs to the page itself and is not something your association can edit directly. If that wording needs to change, your association may need to submit a request instead of updating it themselves.
Change a Completed Registration
You do not need to cancel and start over when you want to change a completed registration. You can add a session, buy another function ticket, add a guest, add an add-on you skipped the first time, or change other details. You then pay the change fee and the price of anything new you add. For help choosing tickets during a modification, see Register for and View Your Function Tickets.
- From your registration, select Modify Registration. This option appears only while your registration qualifies, as described in the prerequisites above.
- Work through the form the same way you did when you first registered, adding whatever you need.
- Review the order and pay to finish. You are charged the registration process's change fee, plus the price of anything new you added. Anything already on the registration is not charged again.
Result
Rhythm updates the existing registration and creates a separate order and invoice for the change fee and anything you added. Your original registration's invoice is not changed.
Your association decides for each event whether registrants can modify their own completed registrations, and for how long. When modification is turned on, you can keep making changes until the cutoff date your association sets. After that date, Modify Registration is no longer offered. If a session or ticket already shows a quantity from an earlier step of a modification, you do not need to remove and re-add it. Completing the order invoices it as it stands.
Tip
If you only need to add a session or a function ticket you skipped the first time, modifying is usually the fastest option. It reuses your existing guests, sessions, and tickets, and only asks you to pick what is new.
Warning
Modifying is for a registration you have already completed. If your registration is still a draft or has been cancelled, you will not see Modify Registration. Finish or restart your registration instead. To cancel a registration rather than change it, see Cancel Your Registration in the Portal.
If your association also uses the registration form as the modification form, the same custom fields you saw during registration stay available when you come back to modify. If the two forms differ, what you can edit depends on the modification form your association chose instead.
Warning
Even when modification is turned on for the process, you may not be able to change functions in the Portal if the package you registered under is not set to show in the Portal. If Modify Registration is available but a function you expect to add is not offered, check that package setting as well as the process-level modification setting.
Warning
If your registration includes a guest, the add-ons section can appear empty while you are modifying. If that happens, try removing the guest registration. Add-on choices have been reported to reappear after the guest is removed. Contact the organization running the event if add-ons still do not appear.
