When your association asks you to review abstracts for an event, you’ll complete that work in the Portal’s Review Center. You can see each review assigned to you, read the abstract, and submit your scores and comments.
Prerequisites
- You must be signed in to the Portal with an account linked to a contact, and reviews must be assigned to you for the event.
- Your association sets up the Portal page that hosts the Review Center, so use the link they provide.
Find and Complete Your Reviews
- Open the Review Center from the link your association provided. It opens My Abstract Reviews, where your assigned reviews for the event are grouped by review round.
- In a row, select the abstract title to read it, or open the review to enter your scores.
- Answer the round’s questions and add any comments the round asks for.
- Submit the review.
Result
Your review is recorded as complete. Rhythm totals the numeric answers on your review to create the score, so you do not need to add anything yourself.
Revise a Review After Submitting
Submitting a review does not lock it. Open the review again from My Abstract Reviews, update your answers or comments, and submit it again. Your new answers replace the earlier ones, and Rhythm recalculates the score from what you just entered.
Tip
If you notice an incorrect score after submitting, go back and fix it instead of contacting your association. Resubmitting a review is a normal part of the process.
Why You Might Not See Who Wrote an Abstract
Some review rounds are blind, which means you score an abstract without seeing who submitted or presented it. In a blind round, the review pages hide the submitter, presenter, and co-author names and email addresses. If the round is not blind, that information appears with the abstract.
What You Can and Can't Do
A review assigned to you is yours to read and complete. You cannot see or manage reviews assigned to other reviewers from this list. Completing your review records only your scores and comments; it does not change the abstract’s status or decision, which your association’s review process and staff handle separately. If your role also includes overseeing a review round, your association’s Review Center shows an administration view above your own reviews.
If You Don't See Reviews You Expect
- You see a message that you're not associated with any abstract reviews, even though you expect reviews to be assigned to you. This can happen when the Review Center is not installed on the event’s Portal site yet, or when the page you were given does not route to it. Ask your association to confirm that the Review Center is installed and that the link they gave you points to it.
- You reached an older Review Center-style page and it shows no assigned reviews. New events no longer include the older, separate View Review, Update Review, and Review Center pages some associations used in the past. Ask your association for the current Review Center link instead of using an older bookmarked page.
