If you submitted a talk proposal, present on one, or co-author one someone else submitted, you can review it in the Portal. While changes are still allowed, you can edit the abstract and submit it again.
Before You Begin
Prerequisites
- Sign in to the Portal as the contact who submitted, presents, or co-authors the abstract you want to view.
See All Your Abstracts
- Go to the association's abstracts page. This is often the event’s Abstract Center, where you can also start a new submission, or a dedicated My Event Abstracts page if your association has set one up.
Result
You’ll see every abstract for the current event where you are the submitter, main presenter, or a co-author. Each abstract shows its title, event, submitter, submission date, and status.
Tip
This list can take a short time to update after you submit a new abstract. If you do not see one you just sent in, wait a moment and check again.
Open and Review an Abstract
- Select the abstract’s title, or select its view icon, from the list.
Result
You’ll see the abstract’s type, title, event, submitter, main presenter, full body, status, creation date, session tracks, co-authors’ names and email addresses, and any custom fields the association added to abstracts.
Tip
This view page does not use the abstract page layouts staff can set up for reviewers. Those layouts control what reviewers see, so they do not change the fields you see here as the submitter.
If staff approved your abstract and are waiting for you to accept or decline the invitation to present, you’ll also see a notice here. Responding to an invitation to present is covered in its own article; see Related below.
Edit and Resubmit an Abstract
- From the abstract’s detail page, select Edit Abstract.
- Make your changes in the same form you used to submit it.
- Save your changes to resubmit.
Result
Your abstract is submitted again with your changes. Depending on how the association set up its process, you may receive the association’s confirmation email for a new submission again.
Warning
Resubmitting only succeeds while your abstract’s status is draft or submitted. If staff already moved it further along, such as approved, declined, into review, or More Information Needed, the edit form still opens and lets you make changes, but the save is refused. This applies even when staff asked you for more information, so if you're in that status and saving is refused, contact the association rather than assuming your changes were recorded.
Tip
If you are the presenter and you are at the association’s limit for how many abstracts one presenter may have for the event, resubmitting counts your own abstract toward that limit too. If you were exactly at the limit before, resubmitting still succeeds; going one over does not.
Delete a Draft
If your abstract is still a draft, meaning you have not submitted it yet, you can delete it yourself. After it has been submitted, only the association’s staff can remove it.
Why You Might Not See a Status Yet
Tip
Some associations hide abstract statuses in the Portal until a date they set, so decisions are not visible before the association is ready to announce them. If your abstract’s status is not showing, check back after the date the association announced, or ask them directly.
