To book an exam in the Portal, choose the exam, confirm the registration process, complete the form, and pay.
Prerequisites
You are signed in to the Portal with a linked contact.
Book an Exam
- Go to My Exams, then choose Register for Exam.
- Leave I would like to register for one exam selected, which is the default, then choose the exam under Select the Exam:. When an exam is labeled "proctored," it means the exam is on demand with no set time, not that it includes a live or in-platform proctoring session.
- Wait while Rhythm checks which registration process matches you and the exam. If more than one process applies, choose one under Registration Process:.
- Choose Continue.
- Complete the registration form, including the sitting you want, then pay.
Result
After payment is complete, your booking becomes a registration and appears on your My Exams list, and the related order is finished processing.
Tip
An exam you cannot book yet is marked with " (ineligible)" and cannot be selected. This happens when you have already passed it, are already registered for it, hold credit for it, or do not meet its eligibility criteria. The Portal does not show which reason applies, so contact the association if you need to know why. This eligibility check happens before you reach the registration form, so any explanation your association added to that form will not help when the exam is blocked at this earlier step. Contact the association directly instead.
Tip
Rhythm does not host the exam itself. Booking and paying for an exam in the Portal registers you for it. You take the exam through the outside testing software or facility your association uses, and you sign in there separately instead of being sent there from your Rhythm registration. If your association’s exam uses outside proctoring software, that software is also arranged and run outside Rhythm.
Your Booking Is a Private Draft Until You Pay
Rhythm saves your registration when you reach the sitting-specific part of the form, before checkout is complete. If you leave without finishing payment, the draft registration stays. Other candidates cannot see it, but it does hold a place against the sitting until you complete it or the draft is removed.
Why There's a Process to Choose
A registration process is your association’s recipe for a booking. It decides which form you fill in and whether you are charged the sitting’s normal registration fee or its retest fee. If Rhythm finds more than one process that fits your exam history, it asks you to choose. If only one process fits, Rhythm tells you registration is available and moves you forward without asking. The process that fits you depends on details such as whether you have taken this exam before, so first-time candidates and retesting candidates often see different choices.
Some candidates need board approval before they can register at all. In one observed case, a candidate applying through a direct-registration jurisdiction without an accredited degree had to complete and verify their record information and have the association order an exam approval transmittal to the board before the exam became bookable. If a process stops you before you reach booking, check with the association about whether anything like this applies to you.
Why You Can Only See Your Own Bookings
The booking pages use only your own exam history, including which exams you are eligible for, which sittings you can book, and which registrations are yours. You cannot use the Portal to look up what another person is eligible to book or to change someone else’s registration. These pages, and the checks behind them, work only with your own linked contact.
If Something Goes Wrong
| What you see | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
Unfortunately, you cannot register for this exam at this time. | No registration process currently fits you for that exam. Contact the association if you believe this is wrong. |
Unable to calculate eligible processes | Something went wrong while checking your eligibility. Try again, or choose a different exam. |
| The exam you want shows " (ineligible)" and can't be chosen | You may have already passed it, already be registered for it, hold credit for it, or not meet its eligibility rules. Contact the association if you are not sure why. |
| Your booking still shows as a draft after you finished paying | A completed checkout should leave you with a registration and a successfully processed order, not a draft. Refresh My Exams, and contact the association if the booking still looks unfinished. |
| Certifications isn't configured yet for your association | Contact the association. This exam registration flow needs base Certifications settings in place first. |
