Certifications calls each bookable date for a catalog exam a sitting. In the Console, you work with that sitting as an exam offering. When you schedule a sitting, you set its date, location, fees, and who can book it.
Prerequisites
Your role must allow you to schedule exam sittings in Certifications.
Schedule a New Sitting
- Go to Certifications › Exams › Offerings.
- Choose Create Exam Offering, then choose the exam for this sitting.
- Choose Live when the sitting has a specific date, time, and place, or choose Remote Proctor for an on-demand sitting that stays available until an expiration date. This choice also decides which date field the sitting uses: a Live sitting has a Date, while a Remote Proctor sitting has an Expiration Date instead. Exam-progress reporting and offering-generation logic link registrations to sittings through the Date field, so keep that dependency in mind if your workflow does not fit neatly into either type.
- For a live sitting, enter the Date:, and optionally the Registration Time:, Start Time:, and End Time:. For a remote-proctored sitting, enter the Expiration Date (available until):.
- Enter a Name: for the sitting.
- Choose where the sitting is held: Training Location or Testing Facility, then choose the specific location or facility.
- Optionally enter Additional Location Info.
- To limit who can register, turn on Eligibility Requirements and add the rules a candidate must meet.
- Choose the Registration Fee: and Retest Fee: from the exam's fees.
- Optionally choose a Pass Letter: and Fail Letter: to override the exam's own letters for this sitting only.
- Optionally enter a Linked Course Offering ID: to connect this sitting to a course offering, so the course's registration form can offer it.
- Choose Save Changes.
Result
Rhythm saves the sitting and opens its page. The sitting appears in searches and, once its eligibility rules and any registration process allow it, on the Portal booking pages.
Tip
If you leave Name: blank, Rhythm builds a name from the exam, place, and date. If you leave the address blank, Rhythm copies it from the chosen testing facility or training location. Rhythm copies the address only once, so later changes to that facility or location address do not update sittings you already saved.
A Sitting Has No Seat Limit
Rhythm does not limit how many candidates can book one sitting. Any number of registrations can be created for it.
Warning
You cannot hide the sitting's date from candidates during Portal registration. Certifications can sell and register a candidate for an exam and record their score afterward, but it does not host or deliver the exam itself and does not provide proctoring. Your testing vendor or facility handles that outside Rhythm, so keep this in mind if the actual scheduling happens somewhere other than the date shown here.
Restrict Who Can Book a Sitting
Turn on Eligibility Requirements and add rules to limit which candidates see and can book this sitting. A candidate must also meet the exam's own eligibility rules to see the exam at all.
These rules only control what a candidate sees while browsing and booking. If a request already names the sitting directly, such as one created by an integration, Rhythm does not check it against these rules.
Change Where a Sitting Is Held
If you edit an existing sitting and switch it from a testing facility to a training location, or the reverse, Rhythm keeps the earlier place's identifier and address on the record alongside the new one. Rhythm does not clear the old place or refresh the address. After you move a sitting, check the sitting's page and correct the address if needed.
Find, Deactivate, or Delete a Sitting
- Go to Certifications › Exams › Offerings.
- Search by exam, place, city, date range, or fee.
- Open a sitting from the results to review or edit it.
To stop candidates from booking a sitting without losing its history, open the sitting and set Status: to Inactive. The inactive sitting and its existing registrations stay in place. Candidates can no longer browse to the inactive sitting from the exam's list of sittings, but other lists, including search, still return it.
To delete a sitting, open it and choose Delete Offering. Rhythm will not delete a sitting that any registration names, in any status, including an abandoned draft left by a candidate who started booking but never finished. Cancel or delete those registrations first if you need to remove the sitting.
If Something Goes Wrong
| What you see | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
Unable to save offering | A required field is missing, or the fee, place, or eligibility rule you chose cannot be saved. Check the Form Errors panel and fix the fields it lists. |
Unable to delete exam offering | A registration still names this sitting, in any status. Find and remove or cancel those registrations before deleting the sitting. |
| No fee choices appear under Registration Fee: or Retest Fee: | The exam has no fees defined yet. Add a fee to the exam in Fees & Coupons before scheduling its sittings. |
| A candidate can't find or book a sitting you scheduled | Check that the sitting is active, that its eligibility rules, if any, match the candidate, and that a registration process is available to them. |
