An association can publish a directory of the people and organizations it has certified. Anyone can use that directory to confirm a certification and contact the holder when the association allows messaging. You do not need to sign in.
When to Use This
Use this task to look up someone's certification status in a public directory your association has published. If you need to contact that person, send a message from the directory instead of emailing them directly. If you want to find your own certifications, see View and Print Your Certifications.
Prerequisites
- A working link to the directory page your association has published. If your association runs more than one certification directory, make sure you're using the right one.
Search the Directory
- Open the certification directory page.
- Enter the information your association lets you search by, such as a name, program, or location, and select Search.
Result
Rhythm shows the number of matching results and one row for each result. Select Previous or Next to move through the results pages.
To start over, select Clear Search to empty the form.
Tip
If you're looking for an organization or person outside the United States, a city, state, or ZIP search may not match the way their address is stored. Try searching by postal code or country instead.
When a search field lets you choose more than one value, such as several programs, Rhythm returns results that match any one of your selected values. A result does not need to match every value you chose.
The directory matches a program search by the program's name, so enter the program name as it appears instead of a shorthand or identifier-style value.
You cannot link directly to a specific search result or holder's entry with a URL. The directory always opens on its search form, and you reach an entry by searching and selecting it from the results.
Open a Holder's Entry
- Select a result row.
Result
The entry opens in place of the results list. It shows your position in the list, such as "3 of 12 results," and includes a Back to Search Results link. Your association decides which details appear, usually the holder's name and photo, plus information about their program and certification.
Search results include only the certifications this directory currently lists. Your association can use its own rules to limit a directory to certain certifications. If it has not added those rules, the directory lists only certifications with an active status. If you expect to find a person or organization and do not see them, check that the certification is active and meets the directory's listing rules before assuming the search is not working. A certification that does not meet those rules simply will not appear.
Contact a Listed Holder
If your association has turned on messaging for the directory, the holder's entry shows Send a Message.
- On the holder's entry, select Send a Message.
- Enter your message.
- Select Send Message.
Result
Rhythm emails your message to the certification's contact. You never see the holder's email address, and they never see yours unless you include it in your message.
Tip
If Send a Message does not appear on an entry, your association has not turned on messaging for that directory. You cannot contact the holder from this page.
If a Result Won't Open
If the certification behind an entry can no longer be found, such as when it has been deleted since the search ran, the entry will not open. Use Back to Search Results to return to your list and try another entry.
