Rhythm includes three ready-made access levels for Fundraising. Choose the level that matches each staff member’s work.
The Three Access Levels
| Level | What it grants |
|---|---|
| Fundraising Read Only Access | Staff can view every Fundraising record, and run, download, and schedule Fundraising queries. They cannot create, edit, or delete records, and they cannot open Setup, Settings, or Maintenance. |
| Fundraising Day-to-Day User Access | Staff get everything Read Only grants, plus the ability to create, edit, and delete Fundraising records such as donors, gifts, pledges, and recurring gifts. They cannot open Setup, Settings, or Maintenance. |
| Fundraising Administrator | Staff have complete control over Fundraising, including Setup, Settings, Maintenance, and every record and query action. |
Tip
Each level includes everything from the level before it. Fundraising Day-to-Day User Access includes everything Read Only Access includes, and Fundraising Administrator includes everything Day-to-Day User Access includes.
Who Can Open Setup, Settings, and Maintenance
Only the Fundraising Administrator level can open Fundraising & Gifts › Setup, its Settings page, and its Maintenance page. When staff with Read Only or Day-to-Day User access try to open one of these pages, they see an Access Denied message and the page does not open.
Why a Day-to-Day User Cannot Change Settings from the Console, but the Check Is Only in the Browser
The Console keeps Read Only and Day-to-Day User staff out of Setup, Settings, and Maintenance by checking their access before it loads the page. That check happens in the browser. Fundraising’s own services do not repeat it, so this restriction only controls what ordinary staff can open in the Console. Do not rely on it as a broader security boundary.
Fundraising and the Query Center Need Separate Access
To run Fundraising queries and reports, staff need a query permission that Rhythm grants through Membership, not through any of the three Fundraising levels above, including Administrator. If a staff member with full Fundraising access cannot open the Query Center or the drill-down from a figure on the Fundraising overview, see I Cannot Open the Query Center or a Setup Page for what to grant instead.
Permissions
| Task | Access needed |
|---|---|
| View Fundraising records and run, download, and schedule Fundraising queries | Fundraising Read Only Access or higher |
| Create, edit, and delete Fundraising records | Fundraising Day-to-Day User Access or higher |
| Open Setup, Settings, or Maintenance | Fundraising Administrator |
| Open the Fundraising Query Center | A Membership query permission, in addition to any Fundraising level |
For the full list of permission keys that make up these levels, including the run, download, and schedule keys created for every Fundraising query type, see Fundraising Permissions Reference.
Validation and Errors
| Situation | What you see |
|---|---|
| Read Only or Day-to-Day User staff try to open Setup, Settings, or Maintenance | An Access Denied message; the page does not open |
| Any Fundraising staff member, including an Administrator, tries to open the Query Center without the Membership query permission | Refused at the page |
