When a donor makes a gift recurring, you can include the recurring amount and frequency in their confirmation email. Rhythm does not send a separate recurring gift email, so add those details to the receipt the giving process already sends for the original gift.
Add Recurring Gift Details to a Receipt
- Go to Fundraising & Gifts › Setup › Giving Processes and open the giving process with the receipt you want to update.
- In the Gift Receipts email editor, open the merge-field picker.
- Choose fields from the Recurring Gift group, such as the recurring commitment amount and frequency, and insert them into the template.
- Select Save Changes.
Result
From now on, when a gift receipt is sent for a gift that starts a recurring commitment, the receipt includes the recurring gift details wherever you added those merge fields.
Tip
The Recurring Gift merge-field group appears alongside the Contact, Organization, Campaign, Appeal, and Donor groups in the same picker used for gift and pledge receipt editors. See Gift and Pledge Receipts for details on how those editors work.
There's No Separate Recurring Gift Receipt
Fundraising does not have a separate receipt for recurring gifts, and you cannot preview an email specifically for a recurring gift. If you want donors to receive recurring gift details in writing, add them to the gift receipt described above, which is sent when the underlying gift is made.
Warning
Every recurring donation sends its usual thank-you acknowledgement. There is no setting to turn acknowledgements off only for recurring gifts while leaving them on for one-time gifts. If you change how recurring gifts are thanked, the same acknowledgement behavior applies to your other gifts as well.
Tip
Staff can set a recurring gift end date during Console gift processing only when the giving process they are using has recurring gifts turned on for that frequency. If the option is not available, check the giving process configuration before assuming it is not supported.
Permissions
To edit a giving process's receipt templates, you need Fundraising administrator access to Setup. This is the same access you need to edit the giving process itself.
