Careers appears on your Portal in two ways: three ready-made feature pages you can turn on, and eight page-designer blocks you can add to your own pages. This article explains both options, including how to hide the purchase button on the Employer Overview.
What It Controls
- Whether the Employer Center, job search, and resume management pages appear in your Portal
- Which Portal menu items appear for those pages
- Which Careers elements you can drag onto your own Portal pages, along with their settings
- Whether the purchase button appears on the Employer Overview
Where to Find It
You turn the three Careers Portal features on or off in your Portal feature settings. If you are not sure where those settings are managed for your account, ask your Portal administrator. To add Careers blocks to a page, open the Portal page designer at Portals & Microsites › Pages.
Prerequisites
You need Portal administrator access to turn on features and open the page designer.
The Ready-Made Pages
| Feature | Page | Address | Portal Menu Entry |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search Job Boards | Search for Jobs | /careers/jobs/search | Search for Jobs, under Careers |
| Employer Center | Employer Overview | /careers/employers | Employers, under Careers |
| Employer Center | View Job Posting | /careers/jobs/view | None |
| Employer Center | Edit Job Posting | /careers/jobs/edit | None |
| Employer Center | Post Job Posting | /careers/jobs/post | None |
| Employer Center | Purchase Job Postings | /careers/purchase | None |
| Resume Management | My Resumes | /careers/resumes/my | My Resumes, under Careers |
| Resume Management | Create Resume | /careers/resumes/create | None |
| Resume Management | Edit Resume | /careers/resumes/edit | None |
Visitors must sign in to use every ready-made page, including Search for Jobs. If you want job seekers to search without an account, add the Job Board block to your own page instead.
Warning
The ready-made Edit Resume page does not currently show a working edit form. If your organization needs job seekers to edit saved resumes from the Portal, verify this page in your own account before relying on it, or contact Support.
When someone selects a PDF attached to a job posting, such as a brochure, the file downloads instead of opening in a new browser tab. Other file types, such as images, can open directly in the browser instead.
Careers Blocks in the Page Designer
When you add elements to a Portal page, eight Careers blocks are available under the Careers category. The designer shows a placeholder while you edit the page, and the real element appears after you publish it.
| Block | Settings |
|---|---|
| Job Board | Job Board ID (blank shows your account’s first job board) |
| Employer Overview | Hide Purchase Jobs Button; Post Jobs route; Purchase Jobs route; View Job route |
| Purchase Career Package | Employer Center route |
| Post Job | View Job route; Employer Center route |
| View Job | Edit Jobs route; Employer Center route |
| Edit Job | View Jobs route |
| My Resumes | Add Resume route |
| Create Resume | My Resume route |
Every route setting is optional. If you leave a route blank, the element uses its built-in default address from the ready-made pages table above.
Warning
Rhythm does not check routes for typos. A misspelled route sends someone to a page that does not exist, so double-check each address against a real page on your site.
The same logo or image can look different depending on where it appears in the Portal. An image that looks right in one Careers block or page may not display the same way on the Job Board block, so check each placement instead of assuming one upload works everywhere.
Hiding the Purchase Button
The Employer Overview block has a Hide Purchase Jobs Button setting. Turn it on to remove the Purchase Jobs button from that page.
Warning
After you tick Hide Purchase Jobs Button on a block, unticking it may not bring the button back. The element hides the button whenever the setting carries any value, not only when it is checked. If you need the button back after hiding it, remove the block and place a fresh one instead of relying on unticking the box.
Sign-In and the Employers Menu
Every Careers Portal page requires signing in, so anonymous visitors cannot open the Employer Center, job search page, or resume pages created from these features. Your Portal still shows the Employers menu item to signed-in visitors who do not have Employer Center access. They can see the menu item, but the Employer Center page refuses access when they open it. See View Your Employer Center for what a contact without access sees.
Change Impact and How to Revert
Turning a feature off removes its pages and menu items from the Portal. Blocks already placed on a page keep their settings while a feature is off, and turning the feature back on restores their behavior.
