Career Center packages are the choices employers buy from your price list. Each package grants a set number of job postings, and it can include a description, price, and display order. This article explains how to build that catalog. For the checkout settings used during purchase, see Package Checkout Settings.
What It Controls
A package determines:
- How many job postings a purchase grants
- What buyers see when they choose a package, including its name, description, and price
- Whether the package appears in the Portal, or only in the Console purchase flow
- The order packages appear in when an employer or staff member chooses one to buy
Where to Find It
Go to Career Center › Setup › Packages to view your packages. Select Create Career Center Package to add one, or open an existing package to edit it.
Prerequisites
You need the permission your administrator grants for Career Center setup.
The Settings
| Setting | Options | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name, identifier, business unit, prices | Set in your Rhythm account's standard product editor | — | Sets the package name, permanent identifier, business unit for the sale, and package price |
| Description | Formatted text | Empty | Gives buyers more information when they choose a package |
| Grant Job Postings | On, off | On for a new package | Controls whether a purchase of this package grants job postings |
| Number of Job Postings | Any number | 1 for a new package | Sets how many postings one package grants. This field is required while Grant Job Postings is on |
| Hidden from Portal (part of the standard product settings) | On, off | Off | Removes the package from the Portal purchase page while keeping it available in the Console purchase flow |
Creating a Package
Fill in the standard business unit, name, and price fields. Then turn on Grant Job Postings and set Number of Job Postings to the number of postings one purchase should grant. Add a description if you want buyers to see one when they choose the package.
Tip
Use the package's row menu in the list to Clone it as the starting point for a similar package.
Warning
Your Rhythm account does not enforce a minimum for Number of Job Postings. It accepts and stores zero, a negative number, or a fraction, but only a positive whole number grants what you expect.
When a buyer purchases more than one of the same package in a single order, Rhythm grants the number of postings in Number of Job Postings multiplied by the quantity bought. For example, buying 3 of a package that grants 100 postings gives the buyer 300 available postings.
Order and Visibility
Drag a package's row in the list to change its position. The Console and Portal purchase flows offer packages in the same order as this list: first by position, then by name. When you drag a package, you change what every buyer sees first.
Turning on Hidden from Portal removes a package from the Portal purchase page only. Staff can still buy that package on an employer's behalf in the Console. Some Rhythm accounts previously showed a hidden package as available for purchase on the Portal purchase page. That has since been corrected, so a hidden package no longer appears there.
What Happens When You Change a Package Later
Changes to a package's grants, description, or price affect only future buyers from the moment you save. Rhythm does not keep an earlier grant version for each sale. If a purchase from before your change is cancelled later, the cancellation takes back what the package grants now, not what it granted at the time of that sale. Keep this in mind before you change the number of postings granted by a package that has been sold widely.
Dependencies and Precedence
Warning
When you save a package from this screen, Rhythm reserves a place for every resume bank in your Rhythm account, even though the Console editor does not currently show a way to grant resume access. Because of that, no resume bank in your account can be deleted while this package still exists, even when the package grants no resume access. If you need to delete a resume bank, first check whether you also need to delete any package.
- A package's identifier cannot change after you save it.
- Deleting a package removes it from the catalog immediately, with no warning if past orders still reference it. If the package has ever been sold, consider whether you still need it before deleting it, because a later cancellation of an old order reads the package as it exists today.
Change Impact and How to Revert
Reordering packages, hiding one from the Portal, or changing its description takes effect immediately for new purchases. It does not change orders that have already been placed. To revert an order change, drag the packages back to their previous positions.
Permissions
Changing packages requires the permission your administrator grants for Career Center setup. Portal users can read the packages available for purchase without internal product details, but they cannot create, change, or delete a package.
Validation and Errors
You cannot save a package when Grant Job Postings is on and no number is entered. You must also fill in the package's core fields, including its name and any fields your Rhythm account's standard product editor requires, before you can save it.
