Your Career Center has exactly one settings record. It stores the checkout settings used for package purchases, the contact-role permissions that control Portal access, and a couple of fields that no screen currently shows. This article explains how the record is created, read, and changed. For the checkout fields it stores, see Package Checkout Settings.
What It Controls
The Career Center settings record is the one place your Rhythm account stores Career Center configuration outside packages, job boards, and processes. It holds:
- The checkout settings used for package purchases (see Package Checkout Settings)
- Contact-role permissions for the Employer Center and job posting, which you set from a separate page
- A default job posting process and internal notes, neither of which appears on any Console screen today
Where to Find It
Go to Career Center › Setup › Settings. This is the same page covered in Package Checkout Settings, but this article focuses on the settings record itself instead of its checkout fields.
Prerequisites
You need the permission your administrator grants for Career Center setup. This permission lets you both view and change the settings; there is no view-only option.
Why Only One Record
Your Rhythm account keeps one Career Center settings record, and everything in the Career Center shares it. If you sell through more than one business unit, all business units use the same checkout settings. There is no separate settings record for each job board, business unit, or process.
Creating and Changing the Record
The first time you save this page, your Rhythm account creates the settings record. After that, each save replaces the whole record with the values currently in the form. Turning on the Career Center does not create the record by itself, so a brand-new account has no checkout settings or contact-role permissions until you save this page once.
Warning
Saving this page, or the separate Contact Roles page, sends back the entire settings record, not only the fields shown on that page. If another administrator saved a change after you loaded your page, your save can undo their change because your page does not include it. Save promptly after making changes, and check the result if you are working alongside another administrator.
Fields with No Screen
The settings record can hold a default job posting process and internal notes. Today, no Career Center Setup screen shows or lets you edit either field. If your Rhythm account has a value in either field, changing it is beyond what this screen offers. The Career Center also does not currently read or apply the default job posting process value, even when it is set.
Change Impact and How to Revert
Your Rhythm account keeps only the current settings values and does not keep a history of earlier versions. To revert a change, reopen the page and re-enter the previous values because there is nothing to restore from.
Permissions
Viewing and changing Career Center settings both require the permission your administrator grants for Career Center setup. There is no separate view-only permission.
Validation and Errors
The save fails if the required checkout fields are missing; see Package Checkout Settings for those fields. A save also fails if it names a contact role, job posting process, or checkout record that does not exist.
