When an employer contact signs in to the Portal, their roles at their organization control what they can do in your Career Center. The contact-role permissions in your Rhythm account’s Career Center settings determine whether they can enter the Employer Center, post a job, or edit and close a live posting.

The Three Employer Center Permissions

Three separate permissions control what an employer contact can do:

Permission Lets the contact
Access the Employer Center Enter the organization’s Employer Center
Post jobs Post a new job for their organization
Edit jobs Edit or close one of the organization’s live job postings

A role can have any combination of these permissions. If none of them apply to a contact, the contact does not see an Employer Center. If only Access the Employer Center applies, the contact can view their organization’s postings and balance, but they cannot post, edit, or close jobs.

These permissions do not let an employer contact see who has submitted a job application. The Employer Center is for posting and managing job ads, not reviewing applicants.

Each permission check uses the roles the contact holds at their linked organization, or a permission set that applies to every contact regardless of role.

Administrative Roles Can Act on Any Job

Administrative roles work separately from the Edit jobs permission. If a contact holds a role your Rhythm account treats as administrative, they can edit and close any job posting for their organization, even when that role does not have Edit jobs selected. This lets an organization’s administrative contacts manage its postings without separately giving that role the Edit jobs permission.

Reading Your Career Center Settings from the Portal

Any employer contact signed in to the Portal can read your Rhythm account’s full Career Center settings, including the contact-role permissions described above. The Portal uses those settings to decide what to show the signed-in contact. Only an administrator can change these settings, and only in the Console; the Portal does not include a way to change them.

Example

An association gives its "Board Member" role permission to access the Employer Center and post jobs, but not to edit or close postings. A board member signed in to the Portal can enter the Employer Center and post a new job, but they do not see options to edit or close an existing posting. If that same person also holds a role your Rhythm account treats as administrative, they can act on any of the organization’s postings regardless of the Board Member role’s own settings.
