When you cancel an order that includes a Career Center package, Rhythm automatically removes the job postings and resume bank access that came from that package line. You do not need to take any action; the update happens shortly after the cancellation is processed.
What Gets Taken Back, and from Whom
A cancellation only affects Career Center package lines on the cancelled order. Lines for anything else are handled by the application that sold them.
Rhythm updates the balance for the ship-to organization on the order, because that is the organization that received the package. It does not use another organization from the order, so the cancellation affects the same organization that originally received the postings.
For each cancelled package line:
- The number of job postings the package grants is taken back. Rhythm removes one package’s worth of postings for each cancelled line, rather than checking how many postings were purchased in total. Rhythm does not stop the balance at zero, so available postings can go below zero if the organization already used more postings than the cancellation removes. See View and Correct an Employer's Job Posting Balance if you need to review or correct a balance after a cancellation.
- Resume bank access is shortened or ended, for every resume bank listed in the package, even if that specific bank was never granted to the organization. If the new end date is today or earlier, Rhythm turns the access off.
Tip
Rhythm uses the package settings that exist now, not the settings from when the package was sold. If the package’s postings or resume bank access changed after the sale, the cancellation takes back the current package settings instead of the access the organization originally received.
A refund is not the same as a cancellation. Refunding an order does not remove the posting entitlement or resume bank access that a package granted. If a package was purchased by mistake, it can still leave a posting available, or waiting for payment, until you cancel the related order. To undo an accidental extra purchase, cancel the order; a refund on its own will not take back what the package granted, and any unused extra posting tied to that purchase disappears only after the order is cancelled.
When a Cancellation Has No Effect
Rhythm skips some cancellations instead of applying them:
- A cancellation with no Career Center package lines is not acted on at all.
- An organization with no employer profile — one that has never bought a Career Center package — has nothing to take back, so Rhythm skips the cancellation for that organization.
- A cancelled line that cannot be matched to the order is skipped on its own; Rhythm still applies the rest of the cancellation’s lines.
If Rhythm cannot read the package on a cancelled line, the whole cancellation is blocked instead of partly applied.
Example
An employer buys a package that grants 5 job postings and 30 days of resume bank access, then later cancels the order. After the cancellation is processed, Rhythm removes 5 postings from the organization’s balance and shortens its resume bank access by 30 days from the current end date. This still happens if the organization already used some postings or also had resume bank access from an earlier purchase.
