Several pages in Rhythm's Console and Portal can include an embedded analytics dashboard: a live view of your account's data built with the analytics product Rhythm embeds. For each page, two choices determine whether a dashboard appears and which one people see: your organization's page choice and each person's own preference.
What This Controls
For each page that can show an embedded dashboard, Rhythm keeps one choice for your whole organization. It also keeps a separate personal choice for each person who wants to see different content on that page. Together, those choices determine:
- Whether the page shows a dashboard.
- Which dashboard or workbook the page shows.
- Whether staff with the right permission can build their own dashboards from that page.
- Whether the AI dashboard agent, which answers questions about your data, is available on that page.
How the Organization Choice and a Personal Choice Work Together
Your organization's choice for a page is the default for everyone. If your organization has not turned the page on, no one sees a dashboard there, even if they chose a personal dashboard. After your organization turns the page on, a person can choose their own dashboard for that page. Their personal choice changes only what they see, and it works only while the page remains on for your organization. If someone leaves your organization, Rhythm does not clear their earlier personal choice.
Tip
If a page names its own default dashboard instead of using your organization's choice, the page shows that dashboard regardless of the switches described here.
Where to Find It
You cannot change your organization's page choice from a Console screen. These choices are set when embedded analytics is configured for your account. Contact Rhythm if you want to turn a dashboard on or off for a page, switch the page to a different dashboard or workbook, let staff build their own dashboards from that page, or enable the AI dashboard agent there.
Settings
| Setting | Level | Options | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Page switch | Organization | On or off | Off | Controls whether any dashboard shows on that page for your organization |
| Dashboard or workbook | Organization | One piece of content, either a dashboard or a workbook | None | Controls which content the page shows when the page switch is on |
| Allow staff to build | Organization | On or off | Off | Lets staff with permission to build dashboards create their own from that page. This has no effect while the page switch is off |
| AI dashboard agent | Organization | On or off | Off | Controls whether the AI dashboard agent is available on that page |
| Personal dashboard | Individual | One piece of content, either a dashboard or a workbook | None | Changes which content one person sees on the page while your organization's page switch is on |
Every Save Replaces the Whole Organization Choice
When you save your organization's choice for a page, the save replaces the whole record, not only the fields you include. If the save leaves out Allow staff to build, building is switched off again, even if it was on before. The same is true for the dashboard or workbook content. The only exception is the AI dashboard agent switch. You can change that switch by itself without resending the rest of the page choice, and it stays in place when you save other settings without mentioning it. If you remove your organization's choice for a page, Rhythm removes the whole record with no way to undo it, including the AI agent switch.
Building and the AI Agent
Turning Allow staff to build on lets staff create a dashboard from that page if they already have permission to build dashboards. It does not give that permission to staff who do not have it, and it has no effect while the page itself is switched off. The AI dashboard agent follows the same rule: turning it on makes the agent available on that page, but only while the page's dashboard switch is also on.
Dependencies and Precedence
A personal choice works only when your organization's page switch is on; it cannot turn a page on by itself. If a page names its own dashboard directly instead of using your organization's choice, the page shows that dashboard whether your organization's switch for the page is on or off.
Change Impact and How to Revert
Because each save of your organization's choice replaces the whole record, reverting one setting means resending every other setting you want to keep. Do not send only the setting you are changing. Removing the choice for a page cannot be undone; if you want the same setup afterward, it must be entered again from scratch. A person can clear their own personal choice at any time to return to your organization's choice for that page.
Permissions
To change your organization's choice for a page, you need administrator-level authority to manage embedded dashboards. To turn the AI agent on or off, you need separate authority for that action. If you change both in the same request, you need both authorities. To see what is already configured or set your own personal choice, you only need to be signed in to your account. To build a dashboard from a page after your organization has allowed it, you need the staff permission to build dashboards.
Validation and Errors
A dashboard or workbook choice must name a piece of content and identify whether it is a dashboard or a workbook. Rhythm refuses anything else. Rhythm does not check whether the content exists in the analytics product or whether your organization's staff can see it, so confirm you have selected the right content before saving.
