Connecting Elevate to Rhythm lets members register for Elevate courses when they buy them in Rhythm. It also brings credits they earn in Elevate back to their Rhythm record. Cadmium's Elevate integration can also provide single sign-on, so a member can move between Rhythm and Elevate with one login. That sign-on setup is handled separately from the settings on this screen.
Prerequisites
- The host address for your Elevate site and the API key CommPartners issued for that site.
- Access to System & Security in the Console. This connection does not require a separate permission.
If you only plan to use credit write-back, and not the Registration API described below, course registrations from those purchases will not exist in Rhythm. Use the Registration API when you want a member's earned credits to connect to a registration and a course as described in this article.
Connect Elevate
- Go to System & Security › Integrations, then choose the Cadmium Elevate card.
- Enter your Elevate site's
Hostaddress. You can paste it with or withouthttps://; Rhythm removes any leadinghttp://orhttps://and any spaces before saving. - Enter the
API KeyCommPartners gave you. - Choose
Send Elevate Emailto decide whether Elevate sends its own registration notice when someone buys an Elevate course in Rhythm. - Under
Course Types:, choose the certification course types that should register buyers in Elevate automatically. - Choose the
Credit Status:for credits Elevate reports back, then useMark Course Completedto decide whether a reported credit also completes the member's course registration. - Choose
Save Changes.
Result
Rhythm saves the Elevate connection for your Rhythm account. Your Rhythm account has only one Elevate connection, so saving this screen again replaces the connection you saved before.
Enter the Site Address, Not a Full API Path
Enter your Elevate site's base address for Host, not a full path that already includes the registrations endpoint. If you add that path yourself, Rhythm can add its own path after it, which doubles the route and causes pushes to fail.
Finishing Setup with Your Cadmium Contact
Saving the connection here does not finish the full setup. Cadmium also needs information from you, such as your callback and logout URLs, before the connection works on their side. Coordinate with your Cadmium contact to exchange those details as you get the connection live.
Settings
| Setting | Options | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Host | Text, required | Empty | The address for your Elevate site. Rhythm automatically removes any http:///https:// prefix and spaces |
API Key | Text, required | Empty | The key CommPartners issued for your Elevate site |
Send Elevate Email | Enabled or Disabled | Disabled | Controls whether Elevate sends its own registration email when someone buys a course through Rhythm. Rhythm sends this value with the registration, and you cannot change it on Elevate's side afterward |
Course Types: | Zero or more certification course types | None selected | Buyers are registered in Elevate automatically when they buy a course in Rhythm under a selected type |
Credit Status: | Draft, Submitted, Under Review, Verified, Rejected, Archived | None selected | The status Rhythm gives a credit when Elevate reports it |
Mark Course Completed | Enabled or Disabled | Disabled | Controls whether a credit reported by Elevate also marks the member's course registration complete. This applies to every credit Elevate reports and cannot be set by course type |
Mapping Credit Values
Elevate credit values map one for one to Rhythm credit types, but that mapping is set through the API instead of on this screen. Ask your implementation contact if you need Elevate credit values connected to specific Rhythm credit types.
Posting a credit requires a valid Rhythm contact, a Rhythm course offering, and a credit type that already exists in your Rhythm account. Elevate identifies the contact by the Rhythm contact record's ID, not the contact number, and identifies the course by its Rhythm course offering ID. The credit type Elevate sends must already be mapped in your account. When Elevate reports no hours, or a value of 0, for a completion, Rhythm can still mark the course registration complete, but it does not record any credit hours for that completion.
Cancellations
Cancellation sync between Rhythm and Elevate is one-way. Canceling a registration in Elevate does not cancel it in Rhythm. Process cancellations in the Rhythm Console so the cancellation also reaches Elevate.
Draft registrations are not sent to Elevate. Registrations in a status such as attended, no show, in progress, or completed are sent as ordinary registrations. A cancelled registration is sent as a cancellation instead of a new registration. The cancellation references the registration Elevate returned when the course was first registered, and it can optionally suppress the cancellation email Elevate would otherwise send the member.
Dependencies and Precedence
Mark Course Completed and Credit Status: apply to every credit Elevate reports across all selected course types. You cannot limit either setting to one course type at a time. Buyers are not registered in Elevate when they buy a course under a type that is not selected under Course Types:, so review that list whenever you add a new course. This also applies when you add a new certification course type or category in Certifications. Adding it there does not add it to this connection, so add it to Course Types: here as well, or buyers under that new type will not get Elevate access.
The Elevate integration does not use a status field to track whether a course is complete. Instead, Rhythm infers completion from the credit values Elevate reports, which is why Mark Course Completed depends on a reported credit rather than any status Elevate might send.
If a product delivered through Elevate should stop being accessible a set number of days after purchase, manage that expiration in Elevate. Rhythm does not send or enforce a purchase-relative access expiration date for courses delivered in an external LMS.
Rhythm does not automatically notify a member or trigger a follow-up action when they reach a credit milestone. If you need that kind of automation, such as prompts for self-reported completions or milestone-based outreach, look at an external option such as Informz with a query, a form-based workflow, or a custom API integration instead of expecting this connection to do it.
Change Impact and How to Revert
You cannot remove an Elevate connection from the Console after it is saved. To change any setting, including the host and API key, open the Elevate screen again and save your changes. The new values replace the previous values.
After you change a setting such as Course Types: or Mark Course Completed, give it a little time before you decide the fix did not work. A learner's access or a registration's completion status may not update immediately, and re-testing shortly after has been seen to succeed once the change has had time to take effect.
Permissions
Anyone who can sign in to the Console and open System & Security can view and change this connection, including its API key. There is no separate permission for the Elevate connection.
Single Sign-On Troubleshooting
Rhythm can confirm that its side of an Auth0-backed sign-on is reachable, such as by testing the relevant endpoints from Rhythm. Rhythm does not have access to Elevate's core login logic, so Cadmium needs to investigate problems inside Elevate's handling of sign-in. One pattern to watch for is an initial sign-on token request that succeeds while a later request for the signed-in user's information still fails. That points to an issue in Elevate's handling of that user rather than a failure to sign in at all.
Validation and Errors
Host and API Key are required, and Save Changes will not complete the save until both have a value. Every other setting is optional.
| What you see | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| A registration exists in Rhythm but never appears in Elevate | Rhythm may not have sent the registration call, or Elevate rejected it after Rhythm sent it | Ask Support to check the integration log for that registration's outbound call and Elevate's response, then resave the related registration to resend it |
| Rhythm sends the registration, but Elevate rejects the course | The course or product configured in Elevate does not correctly reference the Rhythm course offering | Correct the linked course reference on Elevate's side |
| A credit fails to post for a member | Rhythm could not find a matching course offering registration for that member | Confirm the member has a registration for the referenced course offering before the credit is posted |
| Unexpected course-registration cancellations appear in Elevate | In at least one case, this was traced to activity in a sandbox rather than your live account | If you see unexplained cancellations, check whether they coincide with sandbox activity and contact Support |
