An AWS event delivery account tells Rhythm which Amazon Web Services (AWS) account should receive selected Rhythm events through Amazon EventBridge. Use this article to register, update, or remove one.
What It Controls
Each registration includes:
- A name you choose so you can tell registrations apart.
- The AWS account ID — the twelve-digit number for the AWS account that should receive events.
- The AWS region where Rhythm sends the events.
- The contacts and organizations events the account receives.
- The finance and billing events the account receives.
Before you register an account, decide which events you want Rhythm to deliver there. A registration receives only the events you select from a fixed list of five, not every event Rhythm produces. You cannot add a new event type yourself; adding one requires a Rhythm product change. If you need an event type that is not offered, raise it with your Rhythm point of contact and describe the data you want.
Prerequisites
You need the AWS account number and region you want to use. The AWS account must be one that you or your organization controls.
Where to Find It
Go to Integrations › EventBridge to see every EventBridge account your organization has registered.
- Create EventBridge Account opens a blank form. This button appears only when your organization has no EventBridge accounts registered.
- The pencil icon opens the registration so you can edit it.
- The trash icon removes a registration after you confirm.
Tip
You can register more than one AWS account to receive Rhythm’s EventBridge events for the same organization. In the Console, the Create EventBridge Account button appears only when you have no registrations, so you cannot use it to add a second account. To register another AWS account, contact your Rhythm point of contact.
The Settings
| Setting | Options | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Any text | Empty | A label that helps you tell registrations apart. You can save without it. |
| AWS Account ID | Exactly twelve digits | None | Required. This is the AWS account Rhythm sends events to. It is also the registration’s permanent identifier, so do not change it on an existing registration; what happens to the record if you do is not established. |
| AWS Region | One of 21 AWS region codes, such as us-east-1 or eu-west-1 | None selected | The AWS region where Rhythm sends events. Rhythm shows the raw region code, not a separate friendly name. |
| Contacts & Organizations Events | rolodex-contacts-merged, rolodex-contacts-changed | None selected | The contact and organization events this account receives. |
| Finance & Billing Events | collect-batches-downloaded | None selected | The finance and billing events this account receives. |
Rhythm accepts any well-formed twelve-digit number in AWS Account ID. It does not check whether you control that AWS account or whether the account exists at AWS.
Dependencies and Precedence
You do not need any other Rhythm setup before you register an AWS event delivery account. The AWS Account ID field is also the record’s key, so Rhythm addresses each registration by that number. If you need to use a different AWS account later, register a new one instead of editing the number on an existing registration.
Change Impact and How to Revert
- Changing the name, region, or event selections on an existing registration updates that registration in place. You can change these values back at any time.
- Removing a registration happens immediately after you confirm this message: "Are you sure? You are deleting
<name>. This operation cannot be undone." with the button "Yes, delete it!". There is no undo. If you need the same registration again, create it again with the same details.
Permissions
Any signed-in staff member of your organization who can reach System & Security can register, update, or remove an AWS event delivery account. This page does not have a separate permission.
Validation and Errors
| Situation | What you see |
|---|---|
| AWS Account ID is missing or is not exactly twelve digits | The Console refuses to save and shows "Unable to save Event Bridge Account". |
| AWS Region is not one of the 21 supported regions | The Console refuses to save and shows the same message. |
| The same AWS Account ID is already registered for your organization | The Console refuses to save and shows the same message, without identifying which field caused it. |
| The list fails to load | "Unable to load EventBridge Accounts" |
| A removal fails | "Unable to delete EventBridge Account" |
The form marks AWS Region, Contacts & Organizations Events, and Finance & Billing Events as required, but the current validation still lets you save without them. Rhythm accepts an empty region or empty event selection without an error, but the registration will not receive anything until you go back and set them.
Design for Duplicate Deliveries
Amazon EventBridge, like most AWS event-delivery patterns, guarantees at-least-once delivery, not exactly-once. Your AWS account can receive the same event more than once. If the system that consumes these events updates shared state, such as an order or a membership record, build it to handle a repeated event safely rather than assuming each event arrives exactly once.
