Before you apply for a job online, you need at least one resume on file. Use My Resumes to upload resumes and to rename, replace, or remove them later.
Before You Begin
Prerequisites
- You must be signed in to the Portal, and your account must be linked to a contact record.
- Your association chooses where resume pages appear on its Portal site. Look for a page often called My Resumes, or open it while applying to a job.
Add a Resume
- On My Resumes, select Add Resume. You see this button only when you have fewer than five resumes on file.
- Enter a name for the resume so you can recognize it later.
- Choose a document from your computer to upload.
- When the upload finishes, select Save Changes.
Result
Your resume is saved with the name you entered and appears in your list. You can choose it the next time you apply for a job.
Tip
You can keep up to five resumes. Once you have five, Add Resume no longer appears in the list. Delete a resume first if you want to add a different one.
Rename a Resume or Replace Its Document
- On My Resumes, select the pencil icon next to the resume you want to change.
- To rename the resume, update the name field. To replace the document, select (remove/replace), then choose a new file. You do not have to do both.
- Select Save Changes.
Result
Your change is saved. If you changed only the name, the existing document stays attached. If you attached a new document, it replaces the old document on this resume.
Warning
Replacing a resume’s document does not update any job application you already sent with the earlier version. The employer who received that application keeps the document as it was when you sent it.
Tip
If this resume changed somewhere else after you opened it, such as in another browser tab, your save is refused so it does not overwrite the other change. Reopen the resume to load the current version, then make your edit again.
Delete a Resume
- On My Resumes, select the trash icon next to the resume you want to remove.
- Confirm when asked.
Result
The resume and its stored document are removed from your list. You can delete only one resume at a time.
Warning
Deleting a resume here does not withdraw any copy already sent with a past job application. That copy stays reachable at its own address, even though the resume is gone from your list, and you are not notified either way.
If It Fails
- "Unable to save resume." Enter a name and attach a document, then try again. Both are required, even though the name field does not show a required marker.
- "unable to load resume." The resume may no longer exist, or you may not be able to open it. Return to My Resumes and try again from there.
- "Unable to delete resume." Try again. If it keeps failing, contact your association for help.
- "ERROR: Unable to upload file." The upload did not go through. Choose your document again. See A File Will Not Upload, Open, or Download if it keeps happening.
