When you find a job posting on a job board, you can apply with one of your saved resumes if the association accepts online applications for that posting.

Before You Begin

Prerequisites

  • You need to be signed in to the Portal, and your account must be linked to a contact record.
  • You need at least one resume on file. If you do not have one yet, see Add, Edit, and Delete a Resume.

Apply to a Posting

  1. On a job board, open a posting. Apply to Job appears only when the board accepts online applications and the posting has an address on file to receive them.
  2. Select Apply to Job.
  3. Choose the resume you want to send. See Choose a Resume for a Job Application to learn how the picker works, including how it can remember your last choice.
  4. Select Apply to Job again to submit your application.

Result

You see Application submitted successfully, and the Portal returns you to the job board with your search still in place. The employer’s contact for the posting receives an email with a link to the resume you chose.

Warning

When you submit, your application is sent right away. There is no review step first, and the form does not restate exactly what will be sent. Make sure you chose the right resume before you select Apply to Job.

Tip

If you submit the form more than once, each submission creates a separate application. Select Apply to Job only once, then wait for the confirmation.

What You Can't Do with an Application

After you apply, the Portal does not provide a way to view, change, delete, or search your own past applications. If you need to follow up with the employer or withdraw your interest, contact them directly using the details on the posting.

If It Fails

  • No "Apply to Job" option on a posting. The board does not accept online applications, or this posting does not have an application address on file. Use the contact details on the posting to reach the employer instead.
  • "You must have at least one resume on file to apply for this job. Please add a resume before continuing." Add a resume first — see Add, Edit, and Delete a Resume — then return to the posting to apply.
  • "Unable to submit job application." This message covers several possible causes: the board or posting may no longer accept applications, the resume you chose may not be one you can use, or something else went wrong. Confirm that you are signed in, choose a resume that is genuinely yours, and try again.
