After you know which review spaces you belong to, open a space to see the submissions waiting for you.

Before You Begin

Prerequisites

  • You must be on a review team in the space, with a role of reviewer, administrator, or both.

Open a Review Space and Find Your Work

  1. Go to Reviews & Judging and select the space's card. Use the Reviews Overview page, not a Submit Review page someone sent you directly, because going straight to Submit Review can bypass the list of abstracts available to you. Reviews Overview can show reviewable items for one event instead of every event, so confirm you are viewing the scope you expect.
  2. If you are both a reviewer and an administrator in this space, check the Role: line near the top, then select the link beside it to switch views.
  3. In reviewer view, read the Review Instructions card if the space has one.
  4. Open Needs My Review for submissions still waiting for you, Reviewed by Me for reviews you have completed, or Declined by Me for assignments you turned down.

Result

Each tab shows the matching submissions, includes a count in the tab name, and gives you a button on each row. While the round is open, you see Submit Review for a submission that still needs your review or Edit Review for one you already reviewed. If the round has closed or has not opened yet, the row shows a disabled Round Closed or Round Not Open button instead.

Tip

If your work spans more than one bucket or round, All Buckets and All Rounds filters appear above the list, along with a text box for filtering by submission name. These filters narrow the list on the screen, but they do not change the count in the tab name. The All Buckets list only includes buckets that currently have an item available to you on this screen. If you have nothing in a bucket right now, that bucket will not appear as a filter option.

Reviews Overview lists every review space you can access as a reviewer, not only the one tied to the event or context you were viewing before. That list can include spaces from past events, so older review spaces may appear beside current ones.

If You Have Both Roles

If you are both a reviewer and an administrator in the same space, you see the reviewer view first by default. If you last chose the administrator view in the same browser, Rhythm remembers that choice for this space until you switch again or use a different browser. Switching views does not change the space or your assignments; it only changes the panel you see.

If You See "You Do Not Have Access"

If Rhythm says you do not have access to review or administer a space, you are not currently on a review team for it. If you should have access, ask the association's staff or the space's review-team administrator to add you to the right team.

A space's status matters too. A Closed space can be hidden from reviewers in the review portal or overview, even when your team assignment is correct. If a space you used to see has disappeared, ask staff to check whether it was reopened to Open. If you are staff and want to keep a historical space out of reviewers' view, open that space in Setup › Space Details and set its status to Closed. That status removes it from the portal.

For reviewers on the event microsite, staff also need to install the Submissions & Reviews feature on the microsite and add a Reviews & Judging (Reviews Overview) menu item. Without that setup, the review center can look empty to assigned reviewers even though their assignments exist.

Warning

A submission's status also controls what appears here. Only submissions currently marked as submitted appear on any of the three tabs, including Reviewed by Me. After staff or a review-team administrator moves a submission to approved, declined, or another later status, it drops off all three tabs. Your history of completed reviews can shrink over time as decisions are finalized, and this page has no other way to show that history.

Warning

A withdrawn submission is supposed to stop being available for review. In some observed cases, a withdrawn abstract kept its reviewer assignments and still showed a Submitted status, so it stayed visible and reviewable to its assigned reviewers after being withdrawn. If you see a review request for something that has been withdrawn, treat it as unexpected and check the submission's actual status before reviewing it.

Warning

If the same reviewer's name appears twice on a submission's assignment list, a review you already completed can keep showing on Needs My Review as though it still needs you. This duplicate-assignment pattern is the most likely explanation when a review you are sure you submitted will not clear from your list. Ask staff to check the submission's reviewer assignments for a duplicate entry.

Warning

Opening Edit Submission for an application that has already been pulled into a review space has, in some cases, gotten stuck loading indefinitely instead of opening. If that happens, reload the page. Editing the submission from its own space rather than from inside the review space has avoided the problem.
