The Submissions Console opens on an overview page. Depending on how your account is set up, you’ll see a built-in analytics dashboard, a notice that the dashboard isn’t part of your plan, or the spaces hub with a list of your spaces. This article explains each version so you know what you’re seeing and why a dashboard might not appear.
When to Use This
Use this when you open the Submissions Console and want to understand the page that opens first. It also helps when you’re looking for your spaces and the page no longer looks like a list.
Prerequisites
- You need access to the Submissions Console to open the overview.
Open the Overview
- Open the Submissions Console. It opens to Submissions › Overview.
Result
You’ll see one of three views, depending on your account:
- A Submissions & Reviews dashboard, embedded in the page, if your account is set up to show it.
- A locked notice saying the dashboard "isn't part of your plan yet," if your account isn't entitled to it.
- A list of your spaces (the spaces hub), if dashboards aren't turned on for your account at all.
The Three Things You Might See
A Dashboard
If dashboards are turned on for your account and your plan includes the Dashboards & Reporting feature, the overview shows an embedded Submissions & Reviews dashboard. The dashboard fills the page and uses its own heading, so the overview page does not show a separate heading. If someone at your organization can build or edit dashboards, the Customize Dashboard button appears in the lower-left corner of the dashboard.
If your account includes dashboards but no dashboard has been set up for Submissions, Rhythm shows a standard Submissions dashboard instead of leaving the page blank.
This embedded dashboard is the cross-space view, so it summarizes activity across every space in Submissions at once. When you open a specific space, you’ll see that space’s own dashboard instead, focused only on what is happening there. Because those dashboards are separate, some widgets you might expect, such as a submission count broken down by space, reviewer progress, or review round status, appear only in a space’s own dashboard, not on the account-wide Overview. If you need that level of detail, open the space first.
Tip
Seeing the Overview dashboard depends on more than your account’s plan. In some cases, a separate Submissions-specific setting must also be turned on before the dashboard appears, even when dashboards are available elsewhere in your account and your plan includes the feature. If you have the plan and dashboards are on elsewhere in your account, but Submissions still shows the locked notice or the spaces hub, ask Support to check that this Submissions-specific setting is enabled.
A Locked Notice
If dashboards are turned on for your account but your plan does not include the Dashboards & Reporting feature, the overview shows a locked-looking panel. You’ll see four faded, blurred tiles in the background, a heading that reads This Dashboard isn't part of your plan yet, a sentence describing what Dashboards & Reporting gives you, and a note inviting you to reach out to your Rhythm customer success manager. The Contact My Account Manager and Learn What's Included buttons appear below that note, but clicking either one currently does nothing. If you’re interested in adding the feature, contact your customer success manager directly instead.
This locked notice can also appear briefly while the page decides what to show. It can also appear if the dashboard fails to load, so seeing it immediately after opening the page does not always mean your plan lacks the feature. If the notice remains after a moment and still appears after you reload the page, your account most likely is not entitled to it.
A small hint at the bottom of the locked notice reads Looking for your spaces? They've moved to Spaces in the left menu. — see the next section.
The Spaces Hub
If dashboards are not turned on for your account, the overview shows the older spaces view. You’ll see two count tiles for your Portal-form spaces, open and closed, plus buttons to create or clone a space. You’ll also see a list of spaces you opened recently and a search box for finding a space by name, type, status, or ID. This is the same page as Find and Open a Space. When dashboards are turned on but the locked notice appears instead of a dashboard, you can still open this spaces list from Spaces in the left menu.
Why Your Spaces "Disappeared"
If you used to see your spaces list on this page and now see a dashboard or locked notice, nothing was deleted. Dashboards were turned on for your account, and the spaces list moved to its own page. Select Spaces in the left navigation menu to open the same list you used to see on the overview. The hint on the locked notice points to that same place.
In some accounts, turning on this feature also changes the left navigation. Overview becomes what’s labeled the Advanced Dashboard, and Submissions gets its own separate navigation item instead of sharing space with Overview. If your navigation looks different after dashboards were turned on, this is why. Nothing was removed.
