Sponsorships gives your Portal two ready-made features: Purchase Sponsorships and sponsorship management. Each feature uses page-designer blocks that you place on the pages where you want sponsors to use them. This article explains how to turn on those pages and add the right blocks. For details about the two viewing blocks, and the permission that controls who can view or buy sponsorships, see Add Sponsorships to Portal Pages and Who Can View and Buy Sponsorships in the Portal.

What It Controls

You can add two Sponsorship Portal features to your Portal:

  • Purchase Sponsorships — one page that uses the Purchase Sponsorships block, where sponsor contacts buy sponsorships.
  • Sponsorship management — two pages that use the View My Sponsorships and View Sponsorship Info blocks, where sponsor contacts review sponsorships their organization already holds.

Every page built from these blocks is private, so only signed-in Portal members can open them.

Where to Find It

You add these features and blocks in your Portal's page designer, wherever your account's Portal building tools are located. Sponsorship blocks appear in the block list with blocks from other Rhythm applications.

Prerequisites

You need Portal page-designer access to place or configure these blocks.

Offer Purchase Sponsorships

  1. Open your Portal's page designer and go to the page where sponsors should buy sponsorships.
  2. Drag the Purchase Sponsorships block onto the page.
  3. Set Route (Success) to the page where a member should land after completing an order. Leave it blank to use the built-in default page.
  4. Set Route (Cancel) to the page where a member should land if they cancel. Leave it blank to use the built-in default page.
  5. Set Route (Denied) to the page where a member should land if the purchase permission refuses them. This has no built-in default — leaving it blank keeps the refused member on the same page.
  6. Save and publish the page.

Warning

Route (Denied) does not have a fallback page like the other two route settings. If you leave it empty, a member who is not allowed to purchase stays on the same page and does not see a page explaining why. Set this route if you want refused members sent somewhere useful.

Offer Sponsorship Management

  1. Add the View My Sponsorships and View Sponsorship Info blocks to your Portal pages, following Add Sponsorships to Portal Pages.
  2. Make sure the page with View Sponsorship Info can receive a sponsorship's identifier from a link. Members cannot open it directly from a menu; they need to arrive from a link that carries an identifier, such as a row in the sponsorships list.

Result

Together, the two pages let sponsor contacts browse their organization's sponsorships and open any sponsorship to see its full details, including benefits.

How the Blocks Fit Together

  1. View My Sponsorships links each row to View Sponsorship Info, and links its Order Sponsorship button to Purchase Sponsorships.
  2. View Sponsorship Info links its View all Sponsorships button back to View My Sponsorships.
  3. Purchase Sponsorships sends the member onward using its own success, cancel, and denied routes after an order is completed, canceled, or refused.

Tip

You can leave any route trait blank. When you do, the block uses a sensible built-in page, except for Route (Denied) on Purchase Sponsorships. Set a route only when your Portal's page addresses do not match the built-in defaults, or when you want a refused purchase to land on a specific page.

Dependencies and Precedence

  • Placing a block does not by itself decide who can see it. Contact roles that can view or purchase sponsorships are controlled by a separate setting; see Who Can View and Buy Sponsorships in the Portal.
  • Every Sponsorship Portal page is meant to require sign-in. A signed-out visitor who reaches one of these pages should not see sponsorship data.
  • The page designer does not check the route you type. If you enter a misspelled or non-existent route, Rhythm saves it as typed, and members who follow it do not land anywhere useful.

Change Impact and How to Revert

  • Changing a route trait only changes where that block's links send members. It does not remove the block or affect any sponsorship data.
  • Removing a block from a page removes that feature from your Portal. It does not delete sponsorships, applications, or orders.

Permissions

You use your Portal's own page-designer access to place or change these blocks. Sponsorships does not add a separate permission for placing blocks.

Validation and Errors

Rhythm does not validate a route trait's value when you save. After publishing, test each route as a Portal member to confirm it goes where you expect.
