If your association sells sponsorship opportunities, you can apply and pay for them in the Portal for your own organization, without calling or emailing anyone.
Before You Begin
Prerequisites
- You need a Portal account linked to a contact at the sponsor organization.
- Your contact role at that organization must allow sponsorship purchases. Association staff control this setting, so contact them if you think you should have access.
Purchase a Sponsorship
- Go to SPONSORSHIP › Purchase Sponsorships. If your association offers the link in the Portal, you can also select Order Sponsorship from your organization’s sponsorships page.
- Choose the application process you want to use, if more than one is available.
- Confirm your contact and organization details, if asked. If the application includes an organization profile step, the address and other organization details come from your organization’s record, not your personal contact profile.
- Choose the opportunity or opportunities you want, along with any optional benefits. All opportunities in this application appear in one list. If your association limits them to specific categories, that limit applies to the whole list instead of creating separate pages for different opportunity types, such as sponsorships and advertising. Select an opportunity to see its full description before you decide.
- Complete checkout by choosing a payment method and entering your order details. You are charged the opportunity’s configured price, and you cannot enter a custom amount like you might on a donation form.
Result
After checkout, you go to the page your association has set up for completed purchases, usually your organization’s sponsorships overview.
Warning
If the opportunity you chose needs staff approval before it becomes an active sponsorship, you still go to the same page you would see after any other purchase. That page does not show that the request is waiting for approval. If you are not sure whether your purchase went through, check your organization’s sponsorships page after a short wait, or contact the association.
Warning
If a sponsorship opportunity is linked to an event, you cannot purchase it here until that event is live. If an opportunity you expected is not listed, check whether its event has opened yet.
What You Can and Cannot Do Here
You can apply for and purchase sponsorships only for your own organization. This page does not let you choose a different organization.
Sponsorship opportunities on this page are listed alphabetically by name, not by price. You cannot filter the list by cost or quantity, or sort opportunities from highest to lowest cost.
Coupon codes that take a percentage off, or that are limited to specific products, do not work for sponsorship opportunities. If you use one of these coupon types at checkout, the order shows an error instead of applying a discount.
If your organization is an active member of the association, an optional benefit with a separate member price does not currently use that lower price at checkout. You are charged the same price as a non-member for that benefit. If this happens, it is expected behavior today and does not mean your membership was missed.
If You Can't See This Page
- You don't see Purchase Sponsorships in your Portal menu at all. Your association may not have turned on sponsorship purchasing in the Portal, or the page may be somewhere other than the standard menu. Contact the association.
- You reach the page, but nothing happens when you try to continue, or you are sent to another page immediately. Your contact role does not currently have permission to purchase sponsorships. Contact the association to request access.
- An opportunity shows a price of $0.00 and won't let you select it. In some cases, an opportunity cloned from an earlier one shows an incorrect $0.00 price here even though its configured price is set correctly. If you see this, contact the association so they can check the opportunity's setup.
