To let sponsor contacts view their organization's sponsorships in the Portal, add two Sponsorship elements: a list and a detail page. The list shows the organization's sponsorships, and the detail page opens the sponsorship the contact selects. This article explains where to place both elements and how to set their links. For the separate purchase element, and for the permission that controls who can view or buy, see Sponsorship Portal Features and Page Blocks and Who Can View and Buy Sponsorships in the Portal.
Sponsorship opportunities do not need to be purchased from within an event experience. To offer them separately in the member Portal, the opportunities must not be hidden from the Portal, the Sponsorship feature, which includes these elements and the purchase element, must be installed on your Member Portal site instead of an event site, and you need to add a menu item so members can get to the sponsorships page.
What It Controls
Your Portal page designer includes two Sponsorship elements:
- View My Sponsorships, which shows a table of the signed-in member's organization's sponsorships.
- View Sponsorship Info, which shows one sponsorship's date, order, event, opportunity, sponsor, amount, and benefits.
Each element has a route setting that controls where its links open. For example, the list's detail route tells the Portal which page to open when a member selects a sponsorship row.
Prerequisites
You need Portal page-designer access to add or change blocks on a page. Anyone who can design Portal pages in your Rhythm account can complete this configuration.
Add the Sponsorships List to a Page
- Open your Portal's page designer and go to the page where sponsor contacts should see their organization's sponsorships.
- Find View My Sponsorships in the block list and drag it onto the page. It is filed under a category shared with another Rhythm application, so search by name if you do not see it where you expect.
- Select the block and set its Route (View Sponsorship) trait to the page that holds the sponsorship detail element. Leave it blank to use the built-in default page.
- Set Route (Purchase Sponsorships) to the page where members can buy a sponsorship. Leave it blank to use the built-in default page.
- Save and publish the page.
Result
Signed-in sponsor contacts who have permission to view sponsorships see a table of their organization's sponsorships on this page. The table includes an Order Sponsorship button and a link on each row that opens that sponsorship's details.
Add the Sponsorship Detail Page
- Open your Portal's page designer and go to the page that will show one sponsorship's details.
- Drag View Sponsorship Info onto the page.
- Set its Route (View My Sponsorships) trait to the page that holds your sponsorships list. Leave it blank to use the built-in default page.
- Save and publish the page.
Warning
This page must receive the sponsorship's identifier as a page parameter, or the element has nothing to show. If the detail element is on a page that cannot receive an identifier, links from the sponsorships list will not work correctly. Use the sponsorships list's link to this page instead of adding a menu entry that opens it directly.
Result
When this page opens with a sponsorship's identifier, it shows that sponsorship's date, order when available, linked event when available, opportunity and quantity, sponsor organization, amount, and benefits. It also includes a button back to the sponsorships list.
Dependencies and Precedence
- Viewing still needs permission. Adding these elements to your Portal does not let every contact see them. Contact roles that may view sponsorships are controlled by a separate setting; see Who Can View and Buy Sponsorships in the Portal.
- Leaving a route blank uses a sensible built-in page, so you do not need to set every route if your Portal uses the default page layout.
- If your Portal also offers purchasing, see Sponsorship Portal Features and Page Blocks for the Purchase Sponsorships element and how the full Sponsorship Portal experience fits together.
Change Impact and How to Revert
- Changing a route changes only where the element's links point. It does not move or remove the element, and you can change the route back at any time.
- Removing an element from a page removes that view for sponsor contacts. It does not delete any sponsorship data.
Validation and Errors
The page designer does not check whether a route you type actually exists. If you type a route incorrectly, members go to a page that is not there, and you will not see a warning when you save. After publishing, test each route by visiting it as a sponsor contact.
