Use Site Settings to add shared header markup, footer markup, tracking scripts, and stylesheet links to every page on one site. Set them once, and Rhythm uses them across that site. This article explains what each setting changes, where to find it, and what Rhythm checks when you save.
Prerequisites
- You need the Portals Day-to-Day User Access role or the Portals Administrator role to open and change site settings.
- Before you edit, check the site shown at the top of the Portals Console next to Site:. Site settings apply only to that site, so select (change) first if you need to work on a different site.
What It Controls
These settings control shared page code for the site selected in the Portals Console. Header markup is added to each page’s <head>, script tags run on every page, and CSS tags link to external stylesheets in the order you list them.
:::
Where to Find It
Go to Portals & Microsites › Site Settings. You’ll use two tabs for these settings:
- Header & Footers — header and footer markup boxes.
- CSS & Javascript — the Script Tags and CSS Tags lists.
The Settings
| Setting | Tab | What you enter | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Header markup | Header & Footers | HTML that does not include a <script tag in any form | Added to the <head> of every page on this site |
| Script Tags — Content | CSS & Javascript | Inline script code | Runs on every page exactly as entered |
| CSS Tags — Href | CSS & Javascript | The address of an external stylesheet | Linked from every page in the order the rows are listed |
- Back on the Site Settings screen, click Save Changes to save the site’s settings. :::
Warning
Put scripts in Script Tags, not in header or footer markup. If Rhythm finds a <script tag in header or footer markup, it points you to the script tags setting.
Messages You Might See
| Cause | What you see |
|---|---|
Header or footer markup contains a <script tag | A message names the header or footer field and points you to the script tags setting |
| A script row has neither a source address nor content | A validation message appears for the script tags field |
| Someone else saved this site’s settings while you had the screen open | A message says the record has changed since you retrieved it; reload the screen and redo your edit |
