After you place an order, you can use the Portal to review what you bought, pay any remaining balance, and apply a missed coupon when your association allows it.
When to Use This
Use this article when you need to review an order you or your organization placed, pay a remaining balance, or add a coupon code after checkout. To place a new order, see Complete a Purchase in a Store. To find or manage coupon codes you own, see View and Use Your Coupon Codes.
Prerequisites
- You must be signed in.
- Your history shows only orders billed to you personally, or to an organization you can act for.
Find and View an Order
- Open your order history in the Portal. Your association chooses where this page appears, so look for an order history or "my orders" page, or use the link in your order confirmation email.
- Select an order number from the list to open it.
- Review who the order was billed to, each line item with its quantity and price, and the totals for ORDER TOTAL, AMOUNT PAID, and BALANCE DUE.
Result
You see the order in an invoice-style view, with everything you bought and any amount still owed.
Warning
An order can show a Completed status and still have a balance due, especially when it was modified after being created from an event registration. Check the BALANCE DUE amount itself instead of using the order status to decide whether anything is still owed.
Pay a Remaining Balance
- Open the order.
- If a balance is due, select Make a Payment.
- Complete payment on the page that opens.
Result
Your payment is applied to the order, and the balance due updates when you return to the order.
Apply a Coupon to an Order You Already Placed
- Open the order.
- If your association allows coupons after checkout, select Apply Coupon.
- On the coupon page, which shows your order number, enter the code under Coupon Code.
- Select Apply Coupon Code.
Result
Rhythm shows "Coupon applied successfully," re-prices your order as if you had used the code at checkout, reduces what you owe by the difference, and refunds any difference to the original payment method if the order was already paid. You return to the order, where the coupon now appears.
Warning
Applying a coupon this way starts a refund as soon as you select Apply Coupon Code. There is no separate confirmation step, so submit only a code you are sure you want to use.
What Can Stop You from Applying a Coupon
Your association must allow it. The Apply Coupon option appears only when your association has turned it on for the Portal, and your association may limit it to a set number of days after the order was placed.
The order must be simple enough to adjust automatically. Rhythm cannot process the coupon here if your order has more than one invoice, more than one payment, or a coupon that would need to add an entirely new line instead of discounting what is already there. You will see a message explaining this, and you will need to contact your association directly.
A coupon that changes nothing about the price can still be recorded on the order, but this process does not support a code on an order in a currency other than the one it was invoiced in.
A coupon's settings may not be freshly re-checked here. If your association changes a coupon's use limits or restrictions after a code was already used once, applying that same code again to a later unpaid order in the Portal may still use the coupon's earlier settings instead of its current ones.
You may see an invoice-count error even when your order has an invoice. Rhythm has shown "Unable to apply coupon" with a message that the order needs one invoice, even on an order that does have one. If you see this message on an order you can confirm has an invoice, contact your association directly instead of retrying.
