A Rhythm store’s online catalog is called the storefront. You can use it to browse products, filter by category, search by name, and understand why products and prices look different for different people.
When to Use This
Use this article when you want to see what a store offers before you decide what to buy. To open a product’s full detail page, see Browse Items in the Store. To add something to your cart, see Build a Shopping Cart.
Prerequisites
- None. You do not need to sign in to browse a store or see its prices, as long as the Portal or microsite page that hosts the store is published without requiring sign-in.
Browse and Narrow the Catalog
- Open your Rhythm account’s online store from the place your association added it in the Portal.
- On a larger screen, select a category from the Categories list to show only products in that category, or select All to see the full catalog. On a phone or narrow screen, use the category picker instead of the list.
- Type in the search box to show products with names that match what you entered.
- Use the sort control to reorder the grid, such as by price or name. After you choose a category, the grid can return to that category’s default sort order.
Result
The grid shows the store’s products as tiles. Each tile includes the product’s image, name, and price, filtered and sorted by your choices.
Tip
If you clear a search before choosing anything else, you may briefly see two different “nothing to show” messages at the same time. This is only a display quirk and does not mean anything is wrong with your search.
Tip
If selecting a category does not seem to change anything, clear your browser’s cache before assuming the store is broken. A stale copy of the storefront page can make category links stop responding in your browser while everyone else can browse normally.
Understand a Product Tile
Each tile shows the product’s image, name, and price. A Featured or New badge appears when it applies. The price area appears in one of three ways:
- A single price, when the product has no member pricing and no special pricing.
- Member Price and Non-Member Price, both shown, when the product has a member price and no special pricing.
- The words "Special Pricing" only, when the price depends on who is buying, or when a course, exam, or event product has more than one fee or package to choose from.
Select a tile’s image or name to open that product’s page; see Browse Items in the Store.
Why What You See Can Differ from Someone Else
Signing in changes your prices. After you sign in and the store knows your currency, Rhythm prices each product for you personally. It replaces the two-price display with the price that applies to you and removes products you are not eligible to buy.
Browsing without signing in shows catalog prices. If you are not signed in, or the store cannot work out your currency, you see every product at its listed price. This includes products you might not be able to buy when you try to check out.
A store can sell more than merchandise. Some stores also list membership packages, courses, exams, and event registrations from other parts of Rhythm. These appear alongside merchandise in their own categories.
A product your association has prohibited from purchase in your currency should not appear purchasable to you while you are shopping in that currency.
A product's detail page can show a different price than its tile. The detail page has been observed using the product’s general listing price instead of your member price, even when you are signed in and the tile showed the member price correctly. If the detail page shows the non-member price for an item where you expect a member price, add it to your cart; the cart recalculates and shows your correct member price.
