Honor Education connections send course registrations to Honor Education. If your association works with more than one Honor Education client, you may need more than one connection because each one uses its own client identifier and secret.

Prerequisites

  • A client identifier and client secret from Honor Education's administration area, under API Keys.
  • Access to System & Security in the Console. You do not need a separate permission for this connection.

Add a Connection

  1. Go to System & Security › Integrations, then choose the Honor Education card.
  2. Choose Create Honor Education Account.
  3. Enter a Name and the Client ID Honor Education issued.
  4. Enter the Client Secret. Honor Education shows this value only once when you create it, so copy it right away; you cannot view it again in Honor Education.
  5. Under Course Types:, choose the certification course types this connection should register automatically.
  6. Turn on Enable Connection: when you are ready for the connection to run.
  7. Choose Save Changes.

Result

The connection is saved and appears in your list of Honor Education connections.

Copy the Client Secret Immediately

Honor Education shows the client secret only once, when you create it there. If you lose it before entering it here, you need to generate a new one in Honor Education.

Manage Multiple Connections

Your Rhythm account can have more than one Honor Education connection. This is useful when different course types need to register with different Honor Education clients. Open System & Security › Integrations › Honor Education to see every connection you have added, along with its client identifier and active status.

Setting Options Default Effect
Name Text, required Empty Identifies the connection in your list
Client ID Text, required Empty The public client identifier issued by Honor Education
Client Secret Text, required to save Empty The secret issued by Honor Education; required every time you save the connection, including when you edit it
Course Types: Zero or more certification course types None selected Course offerings under a selected type register automatically through this Honor Education connection
Enable Connection: On or off Off Controls whether the connection is active
Test course and test course offering One course, then one of its offerings, optional None While set, only that offering's registrations are sent
Test contact One contact, optional None While set, only that contact's registration for the test offering is sent

Change or Remove a Connection

Select a connection's row to open it for editing. The client secret field is required every time you save, even when you are only changing another setting, so have it ready before you make updates. Select Delete on a connection's row and confirm to remove it.

Tip

If the same course type is listed on more than one connection, keep it on only one connection to avoid an unpredictable result for which connection registers it.

Test Before You Go Live

To try a connection before sending every registration, choose a Test Course and then a Test Course Offering: for it. While the test offering is set, only that offering's registrations are sent. You can also narrow the test to one Test Contact:, so only that contact's registration for the test offering goes to Honor Education. Clear both to resume sending everyone.

Dependencies and Precedence

Choosing a Test Course Offering: requires you to choose its Test Course first because the offering list comes from the course you pick.

Change Impact and How to Revert

To change any setting on a connection, including its course types or active status, open it from the list, make your change, re-enter the client secret, and save. To stop using a connection entirely, switch off Enable Connection: or delete it from the list; deleting cannot be undone.

Permissions

Anyone who can sign in to the Console and open System & Security can view, add, change, or remove an Honor Education connection, including its client secret. There is no separate permission for Honor Education connections.

Validation and Errors

Name, Client ID, and Client Secret are required every time you save, including when you edit a connection without changing the secret. You must choose a test course before you choose a test course offering.
