The Inventory overview gives you a quick view of stock across your catalog, including what you have, what is running low, and what needs a supplier order. This article explains the headline figures, the search box, and how low-stock status differs from a reorder alert.
When to Use This
Use this page when you need a quick read on stock levels across your Rhythm account, or when you need to find one item’s stock without knowing which warehouse holds it. To see one item’s full detail and history, see View Stock Levels and Movement History. To act on a shortage, see Order and Receive Stock.
Prerequisites
- Permission to view stock records.
Read the Headline Figures
- Go to Orders & Inventory › Inventory.
- Review the four tiles at the top. Products shows how many distinct items have stock records, Items On Order shows how many stock records currently have something on order, Total Inventory Value appears with the other summary tiles, and Alerts shows how many stock records need reordering.
Result
You get a quick summary of catalog stock without opening each item.
Tip
Total Inventory Value always shows a dash because Rhythm does not currently calculate stock value here. Rhythm is aware of this gap; it is not a setting you can turn on.
Find an Item's Stock Quickly
- On the Inventory overview, type part of an item’s name into the search box above the table.
- Review the matching rows in the Inventory at a Glance table.
Result
The table narrows to stock records with item names that contain what you typed. The search checks only rows that have already loaded on the page; it does not ask Rhythm to search anything else.
Understand a Low-Stock Status and a Reorder Alert
Each stock record row shows either a green check or a red warning triangle. Rhythm uses these rules to decide which one you see:
- The reorder point Rhythm uses for each record comes from that record when it has its own reorder point, including a reorder point set to zero. If the record does not have one, Rhythm uses the item’s reorder point. If neither has one, Rhythm uses the warehouse’s default reorder point, or zero.
- The status turns red when the record’s available stock is at or below its reorder point. It stays green when available stock is above the reorder point.
- An alert is raised — appearing in the Inventory Alerts list and counted in the Alerts tile — only when the record is low and the quantity already on order will not bring it back up to its reorder point. A record can be red without appearing in the alerts list when enough stock is already on the way.
Warning
If Rhythm cannot match a stock record’s item or warehouse to your catalog, such as when the item or warehouse was removed, the record always shows green and never raises an alert, even when it is genuinely low.
Limits and Exceptions
- The reorder point shown here is specific to this overview. Orders & Inventory uses a different calculation for statistics elsewhere, so you may occasionally see a mismatch between a report figure and this page.
- Alerts are calculated when the page loads, not continuously. Rhythm does not store or send these alerts, so check this page when you want to review low stock.
- The search box and the status calculations only consider what has already loaded. They do not update automatically while other people record movements.
