At the end of a busy day, opening and shipping dozens of orders one at a time takes too long. Use bulk shipping to select multiple orders, or specific order lines, from your shipping queue and ship them in one pass. Rhythm creates one shipment for each order.
When to Use This
Use bulk shipping when several orders are ready to ship and you want to record them together. Each order still gets its own shipment; the bulk action only saves you from opening the Create Shipment dialog for every order. If you need to choose a UPS service, enter a tracking number, or add shipment notes for one order, ship that order individually instead. See Ship an Order.
Prerequisites
- Permission to create shipments.
- This bulk action appears only when your Rhythm account has shipping by individual order item enabled. Ask your implementer if you do not see it.
Ship Several Orders
- Go to your shipping queue. See View the Shipping Queue and Look Up Shipments.
- Select Bulk Changes, then tick the orders you want to ship. If you are working line by line, tick the individual order lines instead.
- Choose Ship Items.
- Review the quantity on each row. Lower any quantity you do not want to ship in this pass, or set it to
0to leave that line out. - Select Ship Items to confirm.
Warning
Increasing a row’s quantity above what you selected does not ship more than the original amount. Any quantity above your original selection stays unshipped, and the order remains in Awaiting Shipping or partly shipped status. Use this screen only to ship the same amount or less, never more.
Result
Rhythm creates one shipment for each order with at least one shipped line. It uses the default choices you would normally review one order at a time: standard package dimensions, an unset weight, UPS when the order was placed with a UPS shipping method, and a confirmation email to each customer. Each row shows its progress, and rows show Shipped after their order succeeds.
Tip
You cannot opt a customer out of the confirmation email, choose UPS packaging, or enter a tracking number from this screen. Every shipment created this way uses the defaults, so ship the order individually if you need to change any of those details.
If an Order Fails
Rhythm keeps working through the batch even if one order fails. Orders that succeed are fully processed. A failed order shows Error on its rows and includes a message with the first error.
Warning
If you retry the batch after a partial failure, Rhythm sends every order still in the list again, including orders that already succeeded. Before you select Ship Items again, set the quantity to 0 on any row that already shows Shipped, so you do not try to ship it a second time.
Why Rhythm Might Refuse to Start
If every quantity in the batch is 0, nothing is selected to ship. Rhythm tells you to select at least one item and does not send anything.
