A booth type is a booth size your organization offers, such as 10 feet by 10 feet or 10 feet by 30 feet. Booth types apply across every event in your Rhythm account, so you create each size once and then select from that same list when you set up booths, add-on rules, and registration processes.

What It Controls

Booth types set the length and width Rhythm uses to calculate a booth’s square footage. That square footage also supports anything measured by booth size, such as an exhibitor add-on restriction or a booth-staff contact rule in exhibitor settings. Because booth types are shared across events, changing one affects every event with booths that use it.

Where to Find It

Go to Meetings & Shows › Setup › Exhibitors › Booth Types. This opens Manage Exhibitor Booth Types, where you can see each booth type in your Rhythm account, its status, and when it was last changed.

  • Create Exhibitor Booth Type opens a blank form.
  • The clone icon on a row starts a new booth type using that row’s values, but not its identifier.
  • The edit icon opens the booth type so you can change it.
  • The delete icon removes the booth type after you confirm.

Prerequisites

You need the permission your Rhythm account grants for exhibitor setup. Booth types are shared across events, so this permission is separate from permission to configure a single event.

The Settings

Setting Options Default Effect
Name: Any text Empty Required. Rhythm shows this name wherever the booth type is offered, such as a registration process’s booth-type list
ID: Letters, digits, underscores, hyphens Suggested from the name (for example, "Booth Type 42" suggests BOOTH-TYPE-42) Required. This is the booth type’s permanent identifier, and you cannot change it after the first save
Length, Width A number 10, 10 Required. Rhythm multiplies these values to calculate Square Footage
Square Footage: Calculated, read-only Blank until you change Length or Width Shown after both dimensions have a value. You cannot enter it directly
Status: Active, Inactive Active Controls whether the booth type is offered for a new booth or a new registration process

Warning

On a new booth type, Square Footage starts blank and is required. You cannot save the form until you change Length or Width at least once, even if you want to keep the starting values of 10 by 10. Type the same number again, or adjust it and change it back, so Rhythm calculates the area.

If a booth type was originally saved with only square footage and no length or width, it opens with both dimensions set to the square root of that area. Those numbers may not match how you originally sold the booth size. When you save the booth type, Rhythm keeps those square dimensions going forward.

Dependencies and Precedence

  • A booth on any event uses one booth type. When you change a booth type’s dimensions, every booth using that type reports the new square footage, including booths on past events.
  • Exhibitor add-on rules and the booth-staff contact rules in exhibitor settings can use a booth’s square footage, so a booth type’s dimensions affect more than the displayed size.
  • An exhibitor registration process that sells booth types instead of specific booths maps each booth type to a booth fee.

Change Impact and How to Revert

  • Renaming a type is safe because booths and processes continue to refer to it by its identifier.
  • Changing the dimensions immediately changes the square footage shown for every booth of that type, across past and future events. Change dimensions only when you want the size itself to change everywhere.
  • Deactivating a type stops it from being offered on a new booth or process. It does not hide the type from existing lists, so a booth or process that already uses an inactive type keeps showing it normally. Deactivating does not disturb anything already set up with that type, which makes it the safer way to retire a size you no longer sell.
  • Deleting a type removes it outright and cannot be undone from Setup.

Permissions

You need the permission your Rhythm account grants for exhibitor booth type setup.

Validation and Errors

If you try to save a type without a name, an identifier, a length, or a width, the form tells you which field needs a value and does not let you continue. On a new type, if you have not changed Length or Width yet, the form reports the missing Square Footage value the same way.
