Each award has four feature switches that control how people participate. Separate Portal visibility settings control whether members see the award in the Portal.

What It Controls

The four feature switches — Nominations, Applications, Recipient Categories, and Reviews — turn on the setup menus and Portal options for each part of the award. The Portal visibility setting controls whether the award appears when members browse awards, and how long it stays visible.

Where to Find It

Open the award and go to Setup › Award Details. You can also choose these settings while you create the award.

Turn Features on or Off

  1. Open the award's Award Details page.
  2. In Which features should be available for this award?, turn on or off:
    • Nominations — lets people nominate others for this award.
    • Applications — lets people apply for this award online.
    • Recipient Categories — lets you sort nominations, applications, and recipients by category, such as Gold, Silver, or Bronze.
    • Reviews — lets reviewers judge applications online.
  3. Select Save Changes.

Result

The next time the award loads, Rhythm shows or hides the related setup menu items and Portal options. You can change these switches at any time.

Tip

Turning a feature off does not delete anything. Existing nomination or application processes, submitted nominations, applications, and recipient categories stay in place, and they still count when Rhythm checks whether the award can be deleted.

Warning

Turning Nominations, Applications, or Recipient Categories off hides the related setup menu items, but it does not stop a member who already has a direct link to a nomination or application page. Use these switches to guide members to the right options, not as the only way to prevent submissions.

There is currently no way to hide the application button from eligible nominees in the Portal while keeping the application active in the Console. Eligibility criteria can limit who sees the button so that only nominated people see it, and people who have not been nominated do not see it. You cannot also hide it from nominees while staff keep using it in the Console.

Why You Might Not See a Reviews Option

Whether Reviews appears depends on a setting Rhythm controls for your Rhythm account. When that setting is on, Rhythm removes the Reviews option from the award form, so you can no longer change an award's existing Reviews value from this form. An award that already has Reviews turned on still keeps its Reviews menu. Contact Rhythm if you need Reviews available and do not see the option.

The reviewer-facing Portal list of applications always shows the application's Name field. You cannot remap that list to show a different field, such as a custom author name. Bucket assignment rules that route applications to reviewers are managed from the award's application review settings screen, not from this Award Details page. When reviewers open an individual application's responses, a label can sometimes show the underlying custom field name or ID instead of the form's configured prompt or question text. If a reviewer reports a confusing label, check for that mismatch between the field's internal name and its applicant-facing prompt.

Control Portal Visibility

  1. On the award's Award Details page, find Should this award be visible in the portal? and choose Yes or No.
  2. If Yes, you can set Display in portal from: and Show in portal until: to show the award only during a date window. Leave Display in portal from: blank to make the award visible starting now, or leave Show in portal until: blank so it never expires.
  3. Select Save Changes.

Result

Members see the award on the Portal's Browse Awards page only when it is marked visible and, if you set a date window, only during that window.

Warning

A new award defaults to Yes with no date window, so members can see it as soon as you save it. If you are not ready for members to see the award, set it to No or set a date window before saving.

As soon as you set a Display in portal from: date, Rhythm copies that same date into Show in portal until:. If you only want a start date with no end date, set the start date first, save, then reopen the award and update Show in portal until: separately. Otherwise, the award's window closes the moment it opens, and the award is never shown.

Tip

Hiding an award from the Portal listing does not fully hide it. A member who already has a direct link to the award, or who searches for it, can still open its page and read its description while the award is marked not visible or outside its date window.
