A nominee is one candidate, either a person or an organization, for one award. If members nominate the same candidate more than once for the same award, Rhythm keeps one nominee record because the candidate and award identify that record together. Use this article to add a nominee by hand, correct nominee details, or remove a nominee.
When to Use This
Use this when you need to add a candidate before any nomination exists, so members can choose that candidate when they nominate. You can also use it to correct details on an existing nominee. Most nominees are created automatically when a nomination names a new candidate, so you do not need this form for those.
When a member nominates someone, the Select Nominee step on the nomination form uses a type-ahead lookup. It only searches nominees already associated with that award, rather than accepting free-text entry. Add the candidate here first when you want members to find and select them during nomination.
Prerequisites
- Permission to create nominees, when you need to add one by hand.
- Permission to edit nominees, when you need to correct one.
- Permission to delete awards, when you need to remove one. Nominee deletion uses the same permission as deleting an award, not a separate nominee permission.
- The candidate must already be a contact or organization in Rhythm.
Add a Nominee by Hand
- Go to Awards › <award name> › Nominees.
- Select Manually Create a Nominee.
- Fill in the Date:.
- Choose whether the candidate is a person or an organization, then search for and select the candidate.
- When the award uses categories, choose one or more Recipient Categories:.
- Add Internal Notes and any custom field values, then save.
Result
Rhythm saves the nominee and opens the full record.
Warning
A candidate can be a nominee only once for the same award. If the person or organization already has a nominee record for this award, open that record instead of creating another one.
Correct or Remove a Nominee
- Open the nominee's full record.
- Select Edit to change the date, categories, notes, or custom fields, then save.
- To remove the nominee instead, select Delete and confirm.
Result
Edits save immediately. Rhythm removes a nominee only when no nomination and no application names it. If either one does, Rhythm refuses the delete.
Warning
You can change a nominee's date, categories, notes, and custom fields, but not the candidate, the candidate's type, or the award. Those three values identify the nominee. If you choose a different candidate on the edit form and try to save, Rhythm refuses the change.
Why You Can't Delete This Nominee
If Rhythm refuses Delete, a nomination or application still names this nominee. Remove or reassign those first — see Record and Maintain Nominations in the Console — then delete the nominee. After you delete a nominee, a later nomination of the same candidate starts fresh: Rhythm creates a new nominee record and counts it as that candidate's first nomination for the award.
Transferring or Substituting a Nominee
Rhythm currently does not let you transfer a nomination's standing to a different candidate or substitute one nominee for another, on this page or anywhere else in the Console. If a nominee withdraws or needs to be replaced, delete the nominee once nothing else names it, then record the new candidate as a nominee instead.
