Submission screens do not appear on a Portal page automatically. You add each screen in the Portal page designer by dragging in a block from Submissions & Reviews.
What It Controls
Each block in Submissions & Reviews adds one Submissions or Reviews screen to a Portal page. For example, you can add the list of forms a member can submit, the submission form itself, or a reviewer’s assignment list. Most blocks use the page address to determine which space, submission, or review to show, so you do not choose that record in the block settings.
Where to Find It
- Go to Portals & Microsites › Pages, then Edit the page you want to change.
- In the block panel, open the category Submissions & Reviews.
- Drag the block you need onto the page.
The Blocks
| Block label | What it creates |
|---|---|
| Submission Center | Lists the online forms a signed-in member can submit |
| View Submission Space | Shows one space’s online form, along with that member’s submissions to the space |
| Create Submission | Starts the process for creating a new submission in a space |
| View Submission | Shows one submission to the member who owns it |
| Edit Submission | Lets the owner correct a submission |
| Review Center | Lists the review spaces where a member can review. This is the only block with its own setting: Route (View Review Space):, which controls the page a reviewer goes to after choosing a space. Its assignment list shows 10 items per page; that paging is fixed, and there is no setting to show more assignments on one screen |
| Review Space | Shows the reviewer or administrator view of one review space. The Abstract Information comes only from custom fields in the page layout you chose in review settings. Built-in fields such as organization, country, and submitted date do not appear here, even if they are included in that page layout |
| Create Submission (a second block with this same label) | Creates the Submit Review screen, where a reviewer scores a submission |
| View Review | Intended to show one review. This block does not work today; see the warning below |
| View Submission (a second block with this same label) | Shows one submission to a review-team administrator |
| Edit Submission (a second block with this same label) | Lets a review-team administrator change a submission’s bucket, round, or status |
The View Submission and Edit Submission blocks do not have a setting to hide a submission’s status while still allowing the owner to edit it. If a submitter page shows the submission’s status, that display is part of the block and cannot be turned off separately from editing.
The page layout you choose in review settings controls only what reviewers see in the Review Space block. It does not change how a submission looks anywhere else, including Submission 360 in the Console. To change what staff see there, review the page layouts for the source application’s own 360 view.
Dependencies and Precedence
- Each block needs the page address to include the right record identifier. Most Submissions screens expect a specific default address; for example, the submission form expects an address that includes a submission’s identifier. If you place a block on a page with a different address, that screen may have nothing to load.
- The Create Submission block that starts a new submission needs a specific page parameter to know which space or process to create into. Rhythm sets that parameter automatically when it generates the page, but if the parameter is removed during setup or a later edit, the submission process will not continue from that page.
- After an event is cloned, submission links and View buttons have, in at least one cloned event, failed to open the right record even when the page address and parameters looked correct. If this happens after cloning an event, re-check the page’s generated address before treating the configuration as wrong.
- The Review Center block is the only block where you can change the next page people go to, using Route (View Review Space):. Every other block’s onward links are fixed.
Change Impact and How to Revert
Adding or removing a block changes only that page’s design. It does not change any space, submission, or review data. If you add the wrong block, remove it and add the correct one instead; there is no data to clean up.
Warning
Several of these eleven blocks share the exact same label in the block panel. Create Submission appears twice: one block creates a submission, and the other lets a reviewer submit a review. View Submission and Edit Submission also appear twice: once for the submission’s owner, and once for a review-team administrator. Read the description carefully before you drag a block onto a page, because the panel does not give you another way to tell them apart.
Warning
The View Review block does not work. When you place it, it creates a screen that no part of the Portal recognizes, so the page shows nothing where the review should appear. If reviewers or administrators need to see a submitted review, use a different navigation path until this is fixed, or contact Support to confirm the current state of this block.
Permissions
To place a Submissions block, you need the same access the Portal page designer requires for editing pages. Submissions does not add another permission on top of that.
Validation and Errors
Rhythm does not validate blocks after you place them. If Submissions & Reviews does not appear in the designer, your Portal site has not loaded the Submissions design package. Reload the designer, and contact Support if the category still does not appear.
