You tried to create or update a Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, Informz, or ActiveCampaign connection, but Rhythm would not save it. Rhythm shows the same message each time on that screen, so the message does not point to the exact cause. Use the checks below to work through the most likely reasons.
Scope
This article covers a marketing connection that fails to save, whether you are creating a new connection or updating an existing one. It does not cover a connection that saved successfully but is not sending the data you expect. For that issue, use the connection article for that platform.
Likely Causes, Most Common First
| Cause | How to check | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Your account is not entitled to the platform you are connecting | Ask your Customer Success Manager to confirm that your account is entitled to Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, Informz, or ActiveCampaign | Have the entitlement added, then start the connection again. For Informz, you must purchase the Informz license first; Rhythm then enables it on your account so it appears under Integrations. Until that step is complete, the save keeps failing because your account is not entitled |
| A required field was left blank, or the value from the platform was mistyped | Reopen the form and check every field that the platform’s connection article lists as required | Re-enter the value carefully. When possible, copy it from the platform’s settings page instead of retyping it |
| The platform authorization step for Mailchimp or Campaign Monitor was not completed, or the approval expired | Start the connection again from the beginning instead of resuming a partly completed form | Reconnect from the platform’s card in the Integrations catalog |
| Someone else saved a change to the same connection after you opened it | Reopen the connection to load its latest settings | Make your change again on the freshly loaded form |
The message does not tell you which cause applies. Informz and ActiveCampaign do not name the platform in the failure message, so do not rely on the wording to explain what went wrong. Work through the list above instead.
When to Contact Support
Contact Support if:
- You confirmed that your account is entitled to the platform, every required field is filled in correctly, and the save still fails.
- The connection previously worked and stopped saving without any change on your part.
- You need to know why a specific save attempt failed, and the checks above did not explain it.
When you contact Support, include the platform you were connecting, whether this was a new connection or a change to an existing one, and the exact wording of the message Rhythm showed you. If the platform itself is calling Rhythm as part of the failure, also gather that platform's own error output, its HTTP status code, and the API key or request it used. Rhythm's logs do not always show an error for the same time window, so details from both sides help narrow down the cause. Reviewing detailed integration logs can require Support to escalate to engineering instead of resolving the issue directly, so this kind of investigation can take longer than a simple settings fix.
