Some employer profile options do not have a Console screen, so you manage them through the Careers API. Use this reference when you need to update individual fields, delete a profile, keep a staff note, or store custom field values.

Change One or Two Fields Without Sending the Whole Profile

To change one detail on an employer profile, send only the field or fields you want to update. Rhythm checks those fields against the profile schema rules only, so you can set a negative posting balance if the schema allows a negative number.

Delete an Employer Profile

You can delete an employer profile through the API, such as before you delete its organization. Deleting the profile also removes any unused job posting balance and resume-bank access attached to it. The delete still goes through even if the balance is below zero.

Keep a Staff Note on a Profile

You can add a free-text note to an employer profile through the API. The note does not appear in any Console screen, but it is not staff-only. The employer’s own Portal users see it when the Portal reads their employer profile.

Store Custom Field Values on a Profile

You can store your account’s custom field values for employer profiles through the API. These values do not appear in any Console screen, and the organization’s own Portal users receive them with the rest of the profile.

Ability What to know
Change one field at a time Send only the fields you want to change instead of the whole profile. The schema’s rules still apply, including rules that allow a negative balance.
Delete a profile Removes the profile, along with any unused posting balance and resume-bank access it held.
Keep a staff note Free text with no Console screen. The employer’s own Portal users can see it, so it is not staff-only.
Store custom field values Your account’s custom field values for employer profiles. The organization’s Portal users can also see them.
