You tried to delete a stylesheet, script file, or currency mapping policy, but Rhythm stopped the delete because at least one site still uses it. To delete the item, first find the site setting that references it and remove that link.
Scope
This article applies when you delete a stylesheet, script file, or currency mapping policy that is still selected in a site’s settings. It does not cover deleting a site, which also removes that site’s own settings.
Why the Delete Is Refused
Rhythm protects a stylesheet, script file, or currency mapping policy while any site’s settings still reference it. If Rhythm allowed the delete, the site would point to an item that no longer exists, so you need to remove the reference first.
- For a currency mapping policy, the delete confirmation shows an error like “we cannot delete the record(s) because N record(s) depend on it.” The message tells you how many records depend on the policy, but it does not name the sites.
- For a stylesheet or script file, Rhythm uses the same protection. You cannot delete a linked asset while any site’s settings still link to it.
You tried to delete a stylesheet, script file, or currency mapping policy, and Rhythm refused because at least one site still uses it. This article explains why Rhythm blocks the delete and how to remove the link so you can try again.
Scope
This applies when you delete a stylesheet, script file, or currency mapping policy that a site’s settings still reference. It does not cover deleting a site itself, which removes that site’s own settings along with it.
Why the Delete Is Refused
Rhythm protects a stylesheet, script file, or currency mapping policy from deletion as long as any site’s settings still reference it. Deleting the item anyway would leave sites pointing to something that no longer exists, so Rhythm blocks the delete until you remove the reference.
- For a currency mapping policy, the delete confirmation’s error reads along the lines of “we cannot delete the record(s) because N record(s) depend on it.” The message gives you the number of records that depend on the policy, but it does not tell you which sites they are.
- For a stylesheet or script file, the same protection applies. You cannot delete a linked asset while any site’s settings still link to it.
Fix: Find and Remove the Link, Then Delete
- Open Portals & Microsites › Site Settings for each site that might use the item, starting with the sites most likely to reference it.
- For a stylesheet or script file, open the CSS & Javascript tab and check the Linked Files lists for Stylesheets and Javascript Files. If the item appears, use the trash icon that appears when you point at it to remove the item, then save.
- For a currency mapping policy, open the Page & Menu Defaults tab and check the Currency Mapping Policy field. If the item you want to delete is selected, replace it with a different policy; once a policy has been chosen, you cannot clear this field back to none.
- After no site references the item, return to where you were deleting it and try again.
Warning
After you choose a currency mapping policy, you cannot set the field back to blank. You can only replace it with a different policy. If you want to stop using a currency mapping policy on a site altogether, you must attach a different one first, even if you do not plan to keep using that one either.
Tip
Rhythm does not tell you which sites use the item. If your account has only a small number of sites, it is often fastest to check each site’s settings instead of guessing.

When to Contact Support
Contact Support if you checked every site’s settings, removed every reference you found, and Rhythm still refuses the delete. Include the item’s name, its type (stylesheet, script, or currency mapping policy), and the sites you already checked.
