Your Rhythm account has one Orders & Inventory settings record. Rhythm creates it automatically the first time someone saves this page. Use this screen to choose your default store, checkout policy links, retroactive coupon rules, and the contact roles that can manage an organization's coupon codes in the Portal. For the four customer confirmation emails on this same screen, see Customer Confirmation Emails.
Where to Find It
Go to Orders & Inventory › Setup › Settings. The page heading is Commerce Settings.
Prerequisites
- You have the
commerce:admin:settings:editpermission. Rhythm does not offer read-only access for these settings.
The Settings
| Setting | Where | Options | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Default Store: | Basic Settings | One of your active stores, or none | Empty | When a Portal page does not name a specific store, the Portal storefront opens this store. You can choose only active stores on this screen. If an inactive store is already the default, it remains selected until you choose a different store. |
Checkout Policies | Checkout Policies | On or off | Off | When this is on, shoppers must view and accept your refund, consumer-data, secure-checkout, and terms-of-service policy links before they can complete checkout. |
Refund Policy URL:, Consumer Data Policy URL:, Secure Checkout Policy URL:, Terms of Service URL: | Checkout Policies | Any text | Empty | Shoppers see these four links at checkout when Checkout Policies is on. Rhythm does not check whether the text you enter is a working web address. |
Allow users to retroactively apply coupons to their orders in the portal | Retroactive Coupons | On or off | Off | Controls whether a Portal member can apply a coupon to an order they already placed. |
Limit the amount of time after an order that a portal user can retroactively apply a coupon | Retroactive Coupons | On or off, with a number of days | Off | Adds a time limit for retroactive coupons after you turn on the retroactive coupon option above. |
Tip
The checkout page uses a standard order form that cannot be customized in the Portal or the Console. You cannot change its layout or add content, such as a link on its completion page.
Change Your Settings
- Go to Orders & Inventory › Setup › Settings.
- Choose a
Default Store:if your Portal storefront should open a specific store. - Turn on
Checkout Policiesand enter all four links if you want shoppers to view and accept them. All four links are required together, so the switch will not turn on while any link is missing. - Set your
Retroactive Couponschoices if Portal members should be able to apply a coupon after checkout. - Press
Save Changes.
Result
Settings updated successfully. appears, and the screen reloads with your saved changes.
Warning
This screen saves the whole settings record at once, including the customer confirmation emails on the same screen. If a colleague changes another setting while you are editing, your save can overwrite their change. Coordinate before making several changes at once, or save and reload between edits.
Default Store: Two Places to Set It
You can also choose the default store from the store list screen's dialog, without the commerce:admin:settings:edit permission. That dialog includes every store, including inactive stores, and saves only the default store field. This Settings screen includes only active stores and saves the whole record. Because the two screens allow different store choices, an unrelated save on one screen can undo a change made on the other.
Who Can Manage an Organization's Coupon Codes
Go to Orders & Inventory › Setup › Contact Role Permissions to choose which of an organization's contacts can see the organization's coupon codes in the Portal. Access is based on each contact's Rolodex role.
- Go to Orders & Inventory › Setup › Contact Role Permissions.
- In the grid, tick
Manage Coupon Codesfor each contact role that should see the organization's coupon codes in the Portal. Tick theAll Contactsrow if every contact should see them. - Press
Save Changes.
Result
Settings updated successfully appears. Contacts with a ticked role can now see their organization's coupon codes on the relevant Portal page.
Warning
Rhythm checks this right only inside the Portal page itself, in the member's own browser. Because no other confirmed check exists for it, use it to organize what members see, not as a security boundary on its own.
If a contact role becomes inactive in Rolodex, or is deleted, its row disappears from this grid. If you save while that role is missing, the right for that role is lost. A role marked administrative in Rolodex shows a note instead of a checkbox, because administrative contacts automatically receive every organization right.
Who Can Change These Settings
The commerce:admin:settings:edit permission opens the main Settings screen. The commerce:admin:contact-role-permissions:edit permission opens Contact Role Permissions separately. Only the Commerce Administrator policy grants either permission by default. Staff signed in to a different Rhythm account or sandbox cannot see or change your settings.
