The Section 360 gives you one place to review a single section, including its type, status, active members, committees, dues products, documents, and custom field values. Use it when you need the full picture for one section, rather than a list of many sections.
Prerequisites
- Permission to view sections in your Rhythm account.
Open a Section's Section 360
- Go to Sections, then search for the section by name.
- Select the section's name in the results.
Result
The Section 360 opens with three tiles — Type, Members, and Status — above these tabs: Members, Committees, Dues Products, Documents when your account has the Documents application switched on, and Custom Fields.
These tiles, like the matching tiles on a Membership 360, are fixed built-in callouts. You cannot add a custom field as one of them. To highlight a custom field, use the Custom Fields tab.
Warning
If the section, its committees, or its memberships fail to load, the whole page stays on Loading section... just a moment... and does not show an error message. If a section you know exists never finishes loading, reload the page; there is nothing else to try from the page itself.
Find a Member in the Section's Active Roster
The Members tab lists only active members of the section whose membership origin is Principal. Someone who holds the section through flowdown or an organization assignment still holds the section, but they do not appear on this tab.
- Open the Members tab.
- Type in Search for members by name to narrow the table to matching names.
- Select a member's name to open their contact or organization record.
Tip
On a large section, this tab can take a while to appear because Rhythm loads every membership that has ever held the section, active or not, before it filters the list. The filter box only narrows the names you see; it cannot speed up that first load.
Send the Active Roster to a Query
Instead of scrolling through the Members tab, send the same active, principal roster to a query. From there, you can filter, sort, export, or save it.
- On the Members tab, choose Open in Query. Or, from the header tiles, select the number on the Members tile.
- The Query Center opens with a question already queued: this section's roster, limited to active, principal members, named after the section.
Result
The query runs in the Membership Query Center on the Section Roster/Memberships query type. It is already filtered to this section, so you can add conditions, change output fields, or save it.
Warning
The Reports menu on this page includes Section Members (Active), but choosing it does nothing. Use Open in Query or the Members tile instead to get the same roster.
Section values are not always available as criteria outside this page. Some rule builders, such as Advanced Rules & Logic, do not offer section fields, so you may not be able to build an eligibility or visibility rule based on a person's sections there.
Review Committees and Dues Products
The Committees tab lists the committees that belong to this section, with a link to each committee's own page. The Dues Products tab lists the section's dues products with their package, price, and active status, and you can start a new one there with Create Dues Product.
Warning
If this section has dues products but the section's own Section Dues setting is switched off, a banner warns you that none of those products will be charged until you turn dues on for the section. Rhythm does not show the opposite warning: when dues are switched on but there is no active dues product, the section is quietly free to join.
Keep Files with the Section
The Documents tab, when your account has it, is a file cabinet for this section. Use it for minutes, bylaws, and anything else you want to keep with the section.
- Open the Documents tab.
- If no cabinet exists yet, choose Create File Cabinet.
- Upload, edit, move, copy, or delete files as you would in any other file cabinet.
Tip
The section's document cabinet is tied to the section by its identifier, not by a reference Rhythm tracks automatically. If you delete the section later, Rhythm does not delete the document cabinet or stop you because of it, and renaming the section does not rename the cabinet.
