Right after you switch your current program, or when you open a Setup, Billing, or Query page for the first time in a browser, Accreditation can look like it is using the wrong program or no program. This article explains why that happens and how to fix it.
The Symptom
You may notice either of these:
- A tip, form default, or check on a school's page still reflects the program you just left, even though the breadcrumb and record lists show the new program.
- A Setup, Billing, or Query page acts as if you have not chosen a program, even though you already picked one.
Likely Causes
1. Your Browser Hasn't Reloaded Since You Switched Programs
Accreditation tracks your current program in two ways in the same browser tab. It stores the program identifier that filters lists, and it also keeps a loaded copy of program details from earlier in your session. When you choose a program on Accreditations › Current Program: (change), Accreditation updates the stored identifier right away, so the breadcrumb, Setup phase list, and list filters immediately show your new choice. The loaded program details do not clear until you reload the page, so anything that uses those details can still show your previous program.
- Check the breadcrumb at the top of the page. It reads Current Program: followed by a program name and (change).
- If the breadcrumb shows the correct program, but a tip, form default, or check elsewhere still reflects your old program, reload the browser page.
Result
A full reload clears the loaded copy of the program details, so every part of the page follows your current program selection.
Tip
Opening a school's accreditation record directly from a link or bookmark also changes your current program to that record's program. This can happen without visiting the program-choice page, so check the breadcrumb if your current program changed unexpectedly.
2. You're on a Page That Never Asked You to Choose a Program
Setup, Billing, Queries, and Rolodex pages do not require you to choose a program before you open them. Schools, Candidates, Site Visits, and School Reports do. If you open Setup, Billing, Queries, or Rolodex in a browser that has never visited a page that requires a program, or that has never stored a program, the page reads no current program. When that happens, a filtered list on the page can come back empty, or a form can offer no useful default.
- Open any Schools, Candidates, Site Visits, or School Reports page first. If your browser has no current program stored, you're taken to Choose Accreditation Program automatically, where you can pick one.
- Return to the Setup, Billing, Queries, or Rolodex page you were using.
Result
Once your browser has a stored program, Setup, Billing, Queries, and Rolodex pages read it the same way as any other page.
3. Your Account Has No Accreditation Program Yet
Accreditation needs at least one program set up. In a new account, Accreditation itself can fail to initialize when no accreditation program exists. Instead of the usual overview, you can see a blank or white screen. If that happens, browser or device clues can be misleading because the cause observed in this situation is that the account has no accreditation program at all, not a browser difference.
- Go to Accreditations › Setup › Accreditations › Programs and check whether any program exists.
- If none does, create one. See Programs.
Result
Once at least one program exists, Accreditation initializes and loads normally.
This is different from causes 1 and 2 above, which are about your browser's stored program selection rather than whether a program exists in your account at all.
When to Contact Support
If you have reloaded the page and confirmed that the breadcrumb shows the program you expect, contact Support if a specific tip, default value, or check still seems wrong. Include:
- The exact page and the specific tip, field, or check that looked wrong.
- The program the breadcrumb showed, and the program you expected instead.
- Whether you had just switched programs, opened a school's record directly, or opened the page for the first time in that browser.
