An evaluation type stores a pairing between an evaluation process and team member roles, plus Portal display options for that pairing. Today, nothing else in Rhythm uses evaluation types, so creating, changing, or deleting one does not affect evaluations, processes, or what team members see. This article explains what an evaluation type stores and where to find its pages, since they are not on the Setup menu.
Prerequisites
You need access to Accreditation Setup to manage evaluation types.
What This Controls
- A saved pairing between one evaluation process and a set of team member roles.
- Portal display options saved with that pairing.
Warning
Nothing in Accreditation currently uses evaluation types. Creating, editing, or deactivating one changes what is stored, but it does not change who can evaluate whom, which form a role uses, or anything a team member sees. Use Evaluation Processes and Forms to control who may evaluate whom.
Where to Find It
Evaluation type pages are not listed on the Setup menu. If you have used them before, reopen them from a saved link at /setup/evaluations/types. Otherwise, there is no menu path to these pages.
Create or Edit an Evaluation Type
Before you can save an evaluation type, it must have a name, a process, and an active flag.
| Setting | Options | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Name | Any text | None; required | Identifies the type |
| Process | One of your evaluation processes | None; required | Pairs this type with the selected process |
| Active | On or off | On | Saved with the type; nothing currently reads it |
| Team member roles | One or more roles | None | Saved on the type; nothing currently reads it |
| Portal display options | Options recorded with the type | None | Saved on the type; nothing currently reads it |
Warning
The Create Evaluation Type page does not include a way to choose a process, even though a process is required before you can save the type. If you cannot save from this page, use the API to create or edit an evaluation type with its required process.
Why You Can't Delete a Role or Process Named by an Evaluation Type
You cannot delete a team member role, or the evaluation process paired with it, while an evaluation type still names it, even though the type itself has no other effect. If Rhythm refuses the role or process deletion for this reason, find the evaluation type that names it and change or delete the type first.
Permissions
You need access to Accreditation Setup to create, edit, or delete evaluation types.
Validation and Errors
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Name, process, or active flag is missing | The save is refused |
| You try to delete a team member role or process an evaluation type still names | The delete is refused |
